With the new doubles rules suppose to get people more interest in doubles. Basically it is no advantage ie next point win from Deuce
No 3rd set super tie breaker upto 10 points instead

Doubles IMO is entretaining to watch, but Tennis Powers (ATP - WTA) instead of promoting it, (and to think of a way to make singles stars to play it and TV to broadcast it). They always act like doubles is a problem they have to live with.
Totally against the change in rules. :(

Doubles is quite popular among WTA Tour players. If you check out the doubles rankings, you'll see most top players in them. And players like Mauresmo are adventuring into doubles next year, so I don't think we'll see changes in the near future.

im all for it...doubles may be popular among the hardcore fans, but the average tennis fan doesn't care, ive never seen more empty seats at tennis events than i did during doubles...the tournaments should not be paying for an event that adds no revenue if they dont want to...ive always said if you think doubles is marketable, the doubles players should start their own tour and see if they can make any money...and its easy to say keep doubles the way it is cause its not our money....in a perfect world, it should be up to the tournaments to decide if they want to even have doubles, as opposed to being forced to have it, like they do now

No. I hate the new rules for ATP doubles and hope the WTA doesn't ever go down that road.

What I hate is that the doubles specialists between 80-130 aren't allowed to play the slams because higher ranked singles players seem to take priority.

i've never seen more empty seats at tennis events than i did during doubles... That was true at the WTA Championships, but in that case they could have really helped promote doubles by scheduling the matches differently. Instead of playing the singles first and doubles afterward, they should have done it the other way around. The doubles should have been scheduled first, early in the afternoon, followed by singles. That way the doubles final would have served as 'undercard event', like they do in boxing. Lot's of people would have seen at least some of the doubles final, which was a good match. Instead, they scheduled the doubles after the singles making it more of an 'after thought'. The singles final was very long, causing the doubles final to start around dinner time which was awkward. In regular tournaments, I understand that the doubles final is usually played after the singles because the same player may be in both events. But at the WTA Championships this was not the case.

This is rite on the money!! It is like in other sports have the wamr up to warm up the crowds and doubles matches can generally be alot more exciting than singles cause the players are more layed back. The WTA and ATP cant expect the fans to hav an A-Class crowd drawer (Singles) then a B-Class drawer (doubles0 and for the crowd to stay. The other way the crowd is arriving during the match and the scores are more likley to get on the tv as when the tv is doing thier intro a game is on rather than nothing. wke up tourny organises :wavey:
