After Dokic and Hingis, I would hope Seles will be able to come back and be competitive, also Rubin, Capriati, Kournikova would be great for the game but she appears to be the least likely out of these to return. Is Lucic totally done?

as a seles fan i say seles. also looking at that list, capriati is a tremendous player to have back for the wta if it pans out. i really like all these players. i wish they'd all come back.

capriati might have a lot of tennis in her.
kournikova-- who knows? i don't even know if she plays tenniis or trains anymore.
lucic may be a lost cause. i like her and everything, but she's no more likely to do WELL than say sprem, and at least sprem is out there trying to get the ball rolling.
monica may just come back for a short time to say goodbye and see if she's really done for good. i would love to see her out on court again.

Kournikova, Seles and Lucic for me too. I would also like to see Krasnoroutskaya come back, but seriously doubt it given she just had a baby this year.

Anna plays World Team Tennis regularly (a 'minor league' for retired players and up and coming stars, for those who don't know) and trains lightly, but regularly. Says she can't take 6 hour training days required for WTA life

There was a silly Bugger lived on a farm down the track who spent His whole life waiting for some Bugger with the initials J.H.C. to come back, but He died of leukemia last year and saved Him the trip.

Jennifer Cariati, Anna Kournikova, Monica Seles, Mirjana Lucic, Monica Seles should all come back and try and compete with the current top players i think they all could do relatively well.

I think Capriati is the most accomplished player with a realistic chance to come back. I really think she still has some good tennis left in her.

It would be great to have Monica back, but I don't think it's going to happen anymore... And either way, I think Monica at 32/33 would have trouble keeping up with today's players.

I also think Chanda, like Jennifer, still has some good tennis left in her, but she's been extremely unlucky with her injuries... I really hope she can come back once more, that would be great! :D

Anna probably has time on her side the most of all players mentioned, but somehow I don't really see it happening... She seems pretty definite (although not official yet) about and happy with her retirement.

It would be awesome to have all of them back though! But I would already be outrageously happy with 'just' one of them attempting a return! :D

I think the standard size tennis racquet should come back, so we can see the full range of shots available in this great game we all share. When was the last time you saw a woman hit a forehand drop volley?

Ironically enough, the best forehand drop volley I've seen in recent years was Anna Kournikova's. I've seen Justine hit a couple of nice backhand drop volleys too but, Navratilova excepted, Anna's volleys were the most stylish of any top player in the last few years.

I agree. I used to love watching her play in her early years. I remember watching her on an outside court at the U.S. Open, playing a junior match, and nobody knew who she was other than she was a cute little Russian girl. Back then she hadn't yet become the corporate media "darling" (for lack of a better word). She has great hands at the net- probably better than Hingis now that I think about it. It's a shame she didn't focus on tennis, but then again, if I looked like that and had a sultry, sexy voice like Garbo, I don't think I'd have time to play tennis either...;)

Hope for Anna Kournikova and Babsi Schett to come back, now that Martina is on her way.

Nice to see that some noticed Anna's nice drop volley style ... she played such an asthetic game when on, such fast and rounded movement ... and the high risk shots ... sigh ... exiting game, exciting times. :worship:

Anna is really a waste of talent and potential...I think she could still be playing right now...but I just don't see the necessary motivation, determination, and focus. Be nice to have her back. At her age, she's still young enough to make a solid comeback if she works on strengthening her body more and works her ass off in practice, but I doubt those things are appealing to her.

Does Monica ever give you any insider info given you run a great site dedicated to her? The lack of news drives a lot of her fans crazy!! I never saw her play 'live' and would do near enough anything to see her play! I'm sure she could go into doubles and clean up which would give her fans the chance to see her.

I hate to bust your bubble, but I saw her play with Natasha Zvereva in Philadelphia a few years back, and she was just terrible at doubles. I think the best part of Seles' net game is when she's up there shaking hands.

No, Monica has done pretty well in doubles. She didnt play doubles that often, but when she did, she usually did pretty well ;)

She stays at the baseline while the other three players move in to the net. Of course, her return of serve is the killer, but once an opponent gets past that tough first volley, the point is usually over. It was interesting to watch Natasha play with her, because there wasn't anything she could do, point after point after point. Doesn't mean I'm saying she's not a great tennis player, just that doubles isn't ever going to suit her style of play.

I'd much prefer to see Gloria Swanson come back. She's been downtown at the police station since 1950, and that soaking wet Bill Holden body on the cement by the side of her pool must be pretty ripe by now. I wonder what ever happened to Max. He'd make a great press agent for one of these blonde bimbo tennis players that come along every 3 or 4 years. And they don't even wear silk stockings any more.

She doesnt do that everytime - Sometimes she stays back, and then there are some doubles matches where she comes to the net. But Monica has a pretty good record in doubles, so I am not getting where you are saying she is not a good doubles player.

Capriati, Sánchez Vicario, Tauziat, Huber, Kournikova, Spirlea and van Roost . :)Moi? Come back? I never retired! I just won les $100 Kolkata pre qualifying event et I can tell you this : playing dans une burkha est tres difficile! I tore le burkha diving pour une volley and revealed une centimetre of ankle. I received death threats; une fatwa was issued and I lost le point! Mais I am une bigger sex symbole there than Sania since le incidente. At last India has caught up avec le Westerne monde.
