There is no dominant player in the womens game today, and i'm not entirely sure its due to the depth in the game.
After all the injuries, the williams sisters do not look like they can dominate in the way they once did.Kim,Davenport, and Pierce could retire in the next couple of years, and the virus has made a recluse out of justine.
None of the young crop look ready to take over the reins either.

Martina being the smart cookie she is, might have realised this, and might be thinking this could be a great time to make a comeback, and grab a few headlines.Anyone else think that the evil genius might have a big surprise in store for the countless skeptics who say she doesn't have a hope against power tennis?I'm not saying she'll get anywhere near the top again, but she could have a chance to cap her career off in style.
I think she's timed this to perfection.

I think you need to get away from this board for a bit.It has been known to suck life, and vibrancy out of anyone who spends more than 0.1% of their life posting here. :D

Maybes Hingis is just bored and misses the tour. It's all she knew from an early age. She's bound to get fed up riding around on her horsey. But if she couldn't defeat Weingartner on her comeback, what makes her think she can make any sort of impact?

I don't think she was serious about a comeback last year. She quit after just one match!Maybe she feels she can actually get her fitness upto scratch and compete.

She has already stated 'feet permitting'. That doesn't sound to confident does it? Obvious she won't know until she plays competitive matches, but if she hasn't been working out, then what's she been doing not to know already about her feet?

Working out,and tearing up your body on the tour,in match situations are two very different things. She'll only know how her body holds up to the rigors of the tour, once she starts playing a serious schedule.I don't think she would make a serious decision to come back if she thinks she can't even beat the Weingartners of the tour.

Much is being made of Hingis comeback but I think some need to reserve judgement until she adjusts to the tour. I think we will see more loses than wins when she begins, but who is to say she can't contend for big titles again? If Mary Pierce can make a comeback from injuries and being written off, then maybe Martina can. She needs to add some element of power to her game and bulk up some if she is serious though.

Yeah I understand thereís no substitute for match fitness. But she must know what sheís up against, physically and mentally.

How prepared Hingis was when she returned earlier this year, personally I donít know. You tend to think she was ill prepared, in context to her result against Marlene. Iím not so sure. Iíve always had the impression Hingis is one of those players who hates to lose. Even at tiddlywinks.

Thereís been no inkling of her making a return, and this has come as a bolt out of the blue, even to her die-hard fans.

Hingis is a sharp tack.

If she's coming back I've no doubt there'll be a masterplan in the background.

Will make for interesting viewing.
