View Full Version : Who thinks Kournikova will follow in Hingis's footsteps and make a comeback?

The way I see it.....Anna could/can make a living without playing tennis....she will continue to endorse brands and do the PR thing for events et al.

But doesn't that get boring, and there are always fresh faces around.

Even though she hasn't won a single WTA tourney she is pretty talented.

SO DO U THINK SHE WILL EVER MAKE A COMEBACK?

Anna has no serve. NONE. It's gone. She doesn't even have a good doubles serve now.
I'm sure she can improve the question is does she want to? She seems very satisfied in just being pretty.

Would you bet against Hingis-Kournikova at a GS? Martina the first is stll beating the doubles players we have, few teams are actually established in the sense of being long lasting and hardly any have much doubles strategy in their play (which is why Martina 1 can still beat them) If Kournikova can get her serve to Dementieva's level they would be very hard to stop. You wonder if thats why they have been playing a bit together.

Hingis of course has other choices - teaming with Mary at the AO has pedigree for one example. You can just see the sponsors faces though if you offered them the spice girls back.

I wouldn't bet against either of those players with different partners either.
Anna was a good doubles player with or without Martina.
Martina if she wanted to, and if she still desires to, could be one of the best doubles players in the game.
If they do come back they will be a hard team to beat. I don't particularly see anyone being able to beat them unless Kuzzie can find another power player to play with.

It is one thing to return to past glory. It is another to return to past humiliation. Kournikova would return to 'can't win a tournament'. That's returning to the world saying you're defective. Who needs that?

She got out because she couldn't accept her limitations - not enough character. It is greatness or nothing for our Anna. Not the first, or last, succesful junior to suffer from this affliction.

 Give me a break. Not having a serve is the least of Kournikova's problems. She has no motivation. And that is a deficiency that no tennis player can overcome.

this could be part of the "Make bizzarre predictions for 06"

Kournikova becomes a serious player who actually has a chance winning a wta title!

i thought it was interesting when anna/martina lined up that match with raymond/stosur a few weeks back.........were they testing the waters by picking to play the hottest doubles team on tour????

probably wishful thinking tho.

From her recent photos we can see that she no longer has an athlete's body so no way.

If she did it'd be so awesome, but I would have to see her walking out on the court for a tournament before I believe it.
