Davenport
Sharapova
Petrova
Venus
Hantuchova
Safina
Schnyder

Yes, those are the same seven players from this thread (http://wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=205778&page=3&pp=40). If you're feeling wild and crazy, back up your pick with some tournament results.

Lindsayskaya Davenportina or Venusina Williamsova....

I say Schnyder with her various spins and her being a lefty = a good clay courter

it would be between Petrova & Venus both have good success at the French Open Venus being a runner up and Petrova making semis twice

If you're looking at results, then you have to go with Lindsay and Venus. Venus has an 80% winning percentage, and Lindsay has one at 77%. They both have multiple clay-court titles, Venus with a RG final and big titles at Rome and Charleston, and Lindsay a three-time AI champion, and many other clay titles. Both are very solid all-surface players.

Many would say Patty would be the "best", but she has a much lower winning %, only three clay titles, and has only made one QF at RG.

patty was only denied a grand slam final because of pierce's amazing new-found form.
she looked to be second only to justine this year, really. she could have battled it out with any other player for the title.

Petrova :) She has potential on clay.

sharapova will play well in 2006 :)

I think Petrova out of that list.

Davenport and Sharapova don't favour clay as much, and there results show that they are better on other surfaces.

Venus, although she has won claycourt titles, has always had trouble at Roland Garros.

Hantuchova has had some poor results on clay this year (losing 1R at Berlin and Rome)

Schynder and Safina are good players on clay, but Petrova just tips it with her results.

I'd say Venus as she's the only one who's reached the Roland Garros Final out of this group, and she also has some big clay titles.

I wouldn't know who to pick as 2nd, 3rd and 4th from Lindsay, Patty and Nadia though...

Venus, followed closely by Davenport. Venus has a RG final and red clay titles, while Lindsay's Tier 2 + clay titles all came on green clay. Not a huge deal, but RG is on red clay and I'd consider it a greater indicator of a better clay-courter. Now, if you put Lindsay vs. Venus on clay, I'd have no idea who would win. :p

ok, i'm sick of these idiots who are still claiming schnyder and pretrova to be better on clay than lindsay

hello? does anybody actually know their results?

does patty or nadia have tier 2 titles on clay? no, but lindsay has 3

do patty and nadia have a winning head to head over lindsay on clay? no, in fact lindsay leads nadia 2-0 and leads schnyder 2-1

has patty reached semis Roland Garros? no, but lindsay has

please read the original question again and take back your dumbfuck answers :)

I picked Venus over all this women, basically, only looking at results and tournament wins.

I think Patty is good on clay as well. If only she had beaten Momo in the Rome final!

I enjoy Patty's game on clay but it's beyond me how anyone could say she's one of the game's top clay courters or call her a "clay specialist". She has ZERO titles on clay in the last 7 years (that's more than 50 clay tournies without a title), and ZERO quarterfinal or better finishes at the French Open in the same period. Patty has had better results on both rebound ace and indoors.

This year it's Nadia. She made the Berlin final and Paris semi.
She only lost to Justine on red clay in 2005.

Over their whole careers, I would say Venus.

Venus.

Venus Williams is clearly ahead of this pack on clay if we take results over the course of their careers to date.

The French Open finalist is sufficient on it's own to claim this for her, but you've got to throw in the tier 1 titles in Rome and Charleston that she has as well as winning the tier 2 Hamburg title twice and holding a title in Warsaw also.

Nadia, Patty, or Venus. Nadia and Patty are actual clay-courters. They actually know how to play on clay. Venus's game isn't as clay-court like but her past success on the surface has shown she can definitely play.

Green clay is CLAY, hense the word.

Just because it isn't the slowest thing out there, doesn't make it a different surface.

a better poll question should be: "how did davenport, sharapova, and safina get votes in this poll?"

Nadia is the best out of those 7, but Patty can create lots of problems and Venus can do well (former French Open finalist). But Nadia all the way! :D

wrong, its a completely diff surface, just like Rebound Ace and Decoturf are but not as exagerated as such.

Red Clay made of of crushed bricks.
Green Clay is made of stone/rubber and some plastics

We're not talking about just red clay. We're talking about both red and green in this thread.
