I keep getting an advert for Winfixer, but I know thats just evil spyware and other things that want to turn my computer into a vegetable. I can't remember ever getting the ad when I was not on wtaworld.... I could be wrong tho.

Am doing my virus checks all the time to check its not something inside my comp etc, but I recently had to delete some stuff that managed to weasel its way inside.

Is wtaworld having winfixer as one of its ads, or do i have to redouble my spyware/adware killing efforts?

It's not a virus, it's spyware, and while I can't promise wtaworld wasn't the source (simply because I don't know enough about the tech side of things), my guess is you picked it up somewhere else (it's very common).

My advice is to download Spybot Search and DEstroy (http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html), restart your computer IN SAFE MODE and run the scan. Microsoft also has a spyware/ickware scanner, I'm told, and I assume it should also be run in safe mode.

Can you be a little more specific? Like, what software and version, and what kind of message are you getting?

Another website I go to had this Winfixer thing as well yesterday and to get rid of it they removed the advertizer from their rotation of adverts. It seemed to work for me.

It was a Bittorrent website so I won't post the address in case people accuse me of promoting piracy. :p

The point is, as far as I know, Winfixer seemed to be an advert-based problem.
