Kutuzova and Zheng should be dangerous indeed. Both have picked their game up a notch, and they may be able to pull an upset. Gladl;y they are both gonna have to kill each other, and then battle Maria..

I'm a little concerned that Maria might start to play too much tennis and suffer injuries because of that. :( Her right wrist injury in the China Open final concerns me. It's up to Masha's handlers to help keep her from over playing. I hope Makiri isn't worn out for the Ladies Kremlin Cup in 2 weeks.

Poor sore Bepa! This is her first tournament back from a serious ankle-injury that forced her to miss the US Open, and she's been struggling with an undiagnosed viral infection all year.

It would have been so cool if Maria and Bepa could have played each other in the semi-finals - they've never met in a professional singles match.

I hope Maria wins the tournament now. She could be on a roll... or she could suffer a reaction to winning her first tournament.

I stayed up all night to follow the match...

basiclaly the first set went up quickly 4-0 for Masha... but Parra caught up to 4-3... then Masha won the next game for a 5-3, and then a 5-4, and finally a 6-4... It was quick...

the second set was full of filibusters... she broke the first game... then the second... then Parra held and Masha won another game fora 3-1... that took like 10 minutes to 15 minutes... and then Masha won the next game, and so did Parra... to be at 4-2... and at the end.. Masha won the next to games to win... but the second set took loooong...

Yes, I know, but this current succession of matches is likely to stretch it again. I hope it's not the case, anyway. She's on the path for a great Top 20 ranking achievement at year end, which would be one of the most impressive progressions of the season. Not really the moment to get injured.
