I'm sad to see Sun and Li struggling to reach finals this year. I believe they will now become the second ranked doubles team being Yan and Jie since they lost in the semifinals. Has anyone seen them play recently? Is Ting's serve still really inconsistent? Does anyone feel that the Chinese Federation may favor Yan/Zheng in the future?

The olympic gold was pure luck, the 4 chinese hope before athen was Zheng, Zi, Sun and Li, and the Sun and Li pair were always seeing as the weaker ones

Maybe the reason is Jie & Zi have a better relationship because they are all from Sichuan province and trained together at a young age. They have had a long friendship. But Ting is from Hubei while TianTian is from Henan, and they are very different off court, they need more communication.

"pure luck" won't win u d gold medal...luck can favor u in winning a point or at most an important point which can determine the game, set or match. but "pure luck" wont win match after match.

i'm not saying luck didnt play a part in all those matches they play to win d gold, but i think ur comment is alittle disrespectful to d olympic gold medal winners. IMO, they simply played really well thru out to win d gold becoz the importance of the event motivate them to do so.

Yea, I think that it is also disrepectful to say that it was pure luck. We as tennis fans should realize that tennis players get lucky sometimes, but you can't win a match, much less five on luck. :o I guess I saw them back in early 2003 at the 50K level, so it can be said they have come a long way...I just hope they continue to improve as a team, and stick together through it all. :D I'm a bit saddened to think that perhaps their progress has been slowed, as Na Li has confessed to.

Incorrect, Li and Sun had achieved more than Yan/Zheng prior the Olympics.

It's interesting to note that Ting and Tian Tian have split for the tournament in China this week. Sun will be playing with Hao Jie and Ting will be with Na. They have all played with eachother, but you would think Ting and Sun would have the best results together, despite previous success with these other partners...

They've paired up this week with the National Games in mind. Na and Ting were an excellent pair before Na prematurely retired.
