Anastasia Myskina and Karolina Sprem are both with a rather disappointing season but in Kalkota they are very convincing meeting eachother in the final!

Who will win? Anastasia Myskina or Karolina Sprem?

Myskina is the only finalist in India or China who has already won a title.
She's going for # 10.

I fancy Nastya's chances on carpet against anyone

I like both girls very much.
Saw Caroline emerge as a star when she played against Venus in Berlin.
She hit unbelievably hard and everything went in.
Saw her loose to someone in Strassbourg a few weeks later.
This year saw her clobber forget whom and then nothing went in again.
Her game is tooooo high risk just like Mirza's
Myskina can play at the highest level very easily without risk, but she doesnot overpower the best players.
Sure would like to see both of them near the top next year.
Probably Myskina but not Carolina.
I just hope Carolina will have enough confidence to stay in top 30.
Myskina will win

Karolina won some close matches... Nastya haven't beaten any top100 in Kolkata (sic!)

I hope Karolina wins (forgive me Nastya, Kiki need this victory  )

Nastya is the fave of course. Whats their h2h? It depends more on the play of Sprem I think. She will whack every ball as hard as she can and if most of them are in then she might pull off the upset. Myskina shouldn't go for the winners that much and let Sprem make the errors.

myskina beat sprem in fed cup when kiki still hadn't played a tour level match. it was something like 6-1 3-6 6-0

I think Nastya will outsmart Sprem and let her self destruct with a lot of UE.
Moreover the courts are indoor carpet which is Nastya's favourite surface!

I'm pretty confident about Nastya's chances. It would have been different if Elena L. won. That would likely have been a nailbiter so although generally I rather like Elena L. I'm pretty pleased Karolina won. I think Karolina's hard hitting will play into Nastya's hands. She tends to like that kind of opponent.

Oh one more thing. Kolkata is NOT being played on indoor carpet. It is being played on an indoor hardcourt surface. If Nastya wins it will be her 4th indoor title but only her first on indoor hard the other three previous ones all being on carpet.

Great to see Nastya winning her matches so easily this week. She's bumping off her opponents like she did in Moscow two years ago. I would so love this to continue for at least a few more weeks and ........well the longer it goes on the better.

First of all yes, nice post...second of all: Itīs played on greenset and if I am not mistaken, greenset belongs into the carpet section. She just had an interview in which she said that she liked the surface cause it resembles the one used in Moscow which is supreme.

Oh...wait I just checked, the ITF really does count greenset as category A (Acrylic). As well as supreme, now thatīs weird?
http://www.itftennis.com/shared/medialibrary/pdf/original/IO_6256_original.PDF (pages 39-42). So only "Carpet" counts as carpet? Not even supreme...this is irritating.

"Surface: Carpet (Greenset Trophy) - Indoors"

There are more than just one kind of greenset, maybe thatīs why. Does anyone know more about it?!?

Thanks. Greenset? Ooops. I was obviously too trusting with my sources of information. I trust you and if you say it greenset that's good enough for me and greenset would seem to me to fall into the carpet banner too. So please disregard the 2nd paragraph of my previous post. ;)

No, no wait! I think there really are different kinds of "greensets". Like at the ATP Masters in Madrid, they also play on Greenset but itīs still counted as hard.

There are about 7 types of Greenset surfaces. Some of them are hard. Some of them are rubber carpet. Some of them are like hard clay.
Don't know exactly which one is used in Sunfeast Open but like Spunky noticed too my guess is based on Nastya's observation.

 hmmm. Yeah i think from reading all this it probably does count as hard for statistical purposes but who knows. We seem to have entered a very murky area indeed. Personally I never thought there was that much of a difference between the indoors surfaces anyway although when i look at a few players stats it turns out that they are much much better on indoor hard than carpet of vice versa. Oh hell. Im confused. At the end of the day i don't really care if they are playing on cow dung as long as Nastya wins tomorrow.

This really creeps me out, you know how much I always want to know the details. I probably wonīt sleep tonight just because I donīt know whether itīs technically counted as hard or carpet...remind me, next time I meet Nastya, first question I will ask will be:"Sunfeast Open, hardcourt or carpet?!?"

Wait, I have better idea, I will shoot the WTA an email and ask them...no kidding!
