From Venus' Official Site:
Announcements From Venus Williams Headquarters

I regret that I will not be able to continue competing in China after so many great experiences during my first visit to the mainland. I was looking forward to competing in Guangzhou, but I have been advised by medical professionals to rest my knee in an effort to allow it to fully heal. For this reason, I have also been required to withdraw from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Filderstadt). I regret that I will miss both of these events and am appreciative to both tournament organizers for the kind hospitality that they have extended. I look forward to being full-recovered and back on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour in the very near future.

Get well soon Venus!

Because she expected to be healthy to play and
it's people like you that bitch when Williams doesn't
play enough.

If she hadn't got hurt
she would have played.

Besides, Serena is still scheduled
to play and I believe Venus will tag along
while recouping and practicing with Serena.

no, I ONLY bitch about making plans that are imposible to be fullfilled especially when u have been plagued by injuries like Venus has been! I mean she never played so many tournaments, why would she think this year would be different.....well, whatever!

Oh okay, so you're saying to Venus,
"Don't even try"?

Filderstadt would've been her third tournament and
she has played three weeks in a row before so
it's not like it's something she's never done.

Nothing's impossible.

Given the fact that she's been as injury-free
this year compared to last was more than enough to
believe that she could play because she was finally well.

Yeah, I know!
Well, i was just upset that Venus and Serena seem to be the only top players that never ever get to play Filderstadt which has the best field behind the slams, and it is always: "oh they are on the commitment list again...yeah...sure ...like always!" You can't do anything against injuries, but it's strange though!

It's strange. When I want to see two players and don't get to see them especially if they are injured, and my wishes to see them are actually genuine, anger isn't my first feeling or thought.

Did anyone really expect Venus and/or Serena to play a full schedule in the fall? It's been a long time since that has happened.

Venus is also scheduled
for Philly.

As for the YEC,
she's fine.

She's in the 7th position but over 230pts.
ahead of Schnyder and the next closest person
is Petrova who is over 490pts. behind Venus.

So, if she's healthy and plays the remainder
of her schedule she'll make it no problem.

i hope the officials take notice that the ladies aren't machine and that they do need some time off
Federer took 6 weeks off maybe if the cancel some tournies and give them time to rest, they'll be less injuries

I know, I dunno if I've even seen someone play that well in their first match and then have to withdraw from the tournament.
