I think it's quite interesting job ;) Especially in Zurich when the armchair is so comfortable to sit :p ;)
Have you ever thought about being an umpire?
Greetings :wavey:

Never. Seems difficult -- all the pressure... don't screw up!

I would love to. Its not like you have really long days of umpiring. You get to watch a beautiful game and get paid for it.

Hihi, that's a cool question, because I often thought about being a chair umpire. I would like to do that.

...but getting the chance and time to get into it would be tough

They better not let me umpire Maria though or else it may be a very one-sided match :hehehe:

No, way to boring, and not to mention that you have such a tough job with all the close line calls

It sure is a great seat. I think it would be hard to enjoy the tennis, though, because you would be focusing on the ball and each and every near line touch. So probably no. Maybe for an exo with a mic so I could talk shit and not worry about the calls.

That could be the way I won't lose my contact with tennis ;) :D
Besides I love to say: "love thirty" and "love forty"
Gosh I'm crazy  :silly:

Way too much pressure, and I would do something totally embarrassing like fall off the umpire chair...

Although I'd love to be the WTA escort person.... now that's a good job!

I actually know someone who chair umpires. She did it at the Rogers cup. I was supposed to do a workshop with her to begin doing on court line calls...

As long as it isn´t in Filderstadt where you sit on something like a stake without a ladder beneath it, hell yes!!!

I will beat Sandra De Jenken in the category of the sexiest pronunciation of the word "time". You´ll see!!!

I would not be a chair umpire on clay court tournaments. All that getting down to check the mark would seriosly suck. :D

OK, so which players would you like to say to shut up the most?

Mary Pierce would be high up my list, I wouldn`t let her take those hours between points.

I think it could be fun - although when you have layers yelling at you about calls maybe not so fun! ;)

i'm a chair umpire. ;) did the couse for chair umpire year and a half ago and just did some line umpireing at WTA Portoroz.
Great thing about being umpire is that you get really close to the players, have the best seats, but the downfall is you musn't show the excitement. You must act serious, professional, like you don't care who she/he is. Not to mention you can't cheer for anybody on and off the court.
So if you rather loudly suport your player, want to get involved in matches, get those signaatures, you arn't the type for chair umpire. Besides being umpire is not a popular job, somebody always complains.

For example: Final in Portoroz this week when Kata was playing Koukalova in front of the home crowd
Pressure came from both sides and from crowd. You must'n succumb to neither. Umpireing is tought somethimes, but it's can also be fun. I'm enyoing it.

As a tennis fan, I dont see how chair umping a PROFESSIONAL match could be boring.

I'd love to do it :)

nope.
1) i can never watch a complete match no matter how captivating even if it was my 2 faves playing without getting bored.
2) you'd have a record "overule" word used by me in favor of my favourite.
3) if mary is playing my fave "point penalty" would be heard all the time.
4) before the match starts i'd probably go to a player "wtf is that sack you're wearing???"

Have you ever thought about being an umpire?

Actually I do... for every Juju match  .

But then I think about the pressure, and I decided against it. Just ask Ted Watts (sounds familiar?) :wavey:

No, because I would have to give up my current job of women's locker room towel guy.
