I'm not sure yet if i could go to beijing this weekend, but some of my friends said that they saw Maria training today, she's not as tall as we see her on TV, but she and her father yuri are more friendly than we think. Sounds great!!:D

Tomorrow Maria will play Shahar Peer (who towelled up Douchie 62 60  ) in the 2nd Round
Lets go Masha :hatoff:

Maria has a real chance of going all the way here. If she can build her form thru the rounds she will be dangerous and tough for Serena or Venus to beat. Venus looks to be the main danger.

You're right - Shahar is good. She'll be up for it - the seeds are falling fast.

Good luck Masha - you can do it.

Well done maria on a good fighting win, its great to see the champions still pull through when they are not playing so well, now Maria can build her form round by round. It would be awesome if the two Maria's could meet each other in the semi finals.

Asagoe is her next opponent, Maria leads their H2H 3-1, winning the last three matches they played, but it could be a tough match

2003 Birmingham Asagoe won 6-2 2-6 7-6 (3)
2004 Miami Maria won 6-2 3-6 6-0
2005 Tokyo Maria won 6-1 7-6 (3)
2005 Miami Maria won 6-1 6-2

Good luck Maria !!

on to another qf, then on to another sf, then on to another f, then on to another win. first things first, hope she stays focused all the way through. if she does she'll win easily in straights, but if she lets up for just a bit she can be in for a fight.

MASHA!!!

Not as emphatic as I would have liked but I'm delighted with the win. The sets Maria won, she won emphatically. It's just the second set.

Good luck against Asagoe - another tricky opponent.

Andy.

Asagoe is a player who has given Maria trouble in the past apart from their last meeting so im expecting a tough match, i think Maria will win it in str8t but it may be a battle. Good luck Masha

Venus has also now withdrawn because of injury...leaving Maria as the only top 4 seed remaining. ALG is the only other seed in the left in the draw...

Maria Croft
Sep 23rd, 2005, 08:31 AM
Now this is a great change for Maria as she is the only top player left, true, some tough matches still ahead of her, but she should win them all

Good luck Maria !!

Andy.
Sep 23rd, 2005, 09:12 AM
Masha has a great chance to win now she seems to be a level above the rest of the field although i would have liked to have seen her best some top players on her way to the title but you have to beat the players who turn up on the day.

lalala.... all right!, Time she had a title!!! :yeah:
However, I don't think Maria deserves all those points.... still.... she takes what she gets, it's not her fault she's winning a high tier because her opponents get sick ;)

Masha wins 64 61 she really ran away with it in the end. Good luck against Kirilenko lets hope its an awesome match.

one thing for sure, masha will win the next match. kirilenko can compete with maria and make things interesting, but sharapova will come out the winner. hope it doesn't go 3, but i wouldn't be surprised if it did. if it does expect sharapova to crush kirilenko bad in the third.

Maria Kirilenko should prove to be a nice challenge for Masha and she will mox things up and try and keep Maria off Balance. Im sure Maria will go full throtel even though she is playing a good friend.

This is a funny tournament so far.

All the other seeds out before the Semis! So few quality points for Masha.
And she's had some very tricky and difficult players to play. The sort of matches that are testing but with little honour to be won. Now she faces doubles partner kirilenko in the All-Masha Semi. Groenefeld or Domashowska, should she reach the final.

Good luck in your bid for the title Maria S!

I hope she doesn't play her next tournament, I want her to be 100% again

Nah I think that would be better for her, that would mean no tournament in the week of a fed cup match and she would only have to play one or two matches, I think that would be really good, not to mention that I really would like to see Maria play for Russia lol
