Just you wait and see.

Oh, okay.

Jankovic has probably one of the worst records against top ten players ever.

Yes, but she's been very close in lots of her matches against the top ten.
Eventually she has to pull one out.

Eventually ...

it's not too bad....only problem could be Venus but it really depends which Venus turns up. Maybe the "I'd rather be at V-Starr interiors studio" Venus might turn up, or the one pre-occupied with the surrounding culture......Wimbledon Venus might not arrive. We can only but wait ;)

1-6 record against top ten this year. With that one "win" a retirement over a dead Ree.

Vee kicked her ass the last time they played, and Vee played like crap.

Doesn't matter wheich Venus shows up. Lindsay never plays near her best tennis when she plays her, ever. I don't know why. Probably still has the "Vee too good" issues in her head for some reason.

Whatever. When Vee is in our draw, I ignore the match, and hope.

So when Lindsay beat her four times in a row last year and this year leadin into Wimbledon Lindsay was not playing her best tennis? She was playing AWESOME tennis and Venus was playing VERY VERY well. Particularly at US Open last year and Amelia Island this year.

Lindsay's level dropped a ton in every match she played against Venus last year and this year, barring the US Open 4r.

Venus didn't play great in any match except Wimbledon. If Lindsay hit to the forehand, it went out.

I'm sorry but that is absolutely incorrect. If anything Venus' forehand was the best it's been in years at Wimbledon. EVERY player she played hit against her forehand thinking it would break down and it didn't.
Lindsay even went TO the backhand a lot more in the Wimby final because the forehand was holding up excellently.
I'll have to politely disagree Andrew. (ie: No more fighting! LOL!)

we saw jankovic at DFS in Birmingham in the final against masha and she would have beaten maria if she hadnt of got injured! Maria was getting really frustrated and Jelena had the answers to a lot of the stuff maria was hitting to her

Andrew that's the greatest load of crap I have read on this board this morning. 2004 Stanford Final 2004 US open 4th round 7-5 6-4 do these matches ring any bells with you. Lindsay can't play great all the time. If she has to Play Venus she never cames back from lay offs that well. Just have a little faith in her would you.

K. Read my post. I said that Vee was crap in the recent matches, "barring Wimbledon".

Jelena always gets "injured" when she loses.

I like Jelena. I think she's a great girl, and if she develops her game more can really go places. But she has a long way to go before she gets there.

Yes! More people who don't read my posts!

I already said that her level didn't drop at the US Open. So, your point is moot.

Stanford was steady. Still way too close for the level Lindsay played at. Venus literally had like 80 errors that match. It was very dramatic and good for confidence, but in terms of actual quality, both were making errors, and it just wasn't a very clean match.

"Layoff" expired after New Haven. She's been playing for four weeks.

I have to agree with andrew, Lindsay does have mental problems most of the time against the top players on the tour....

You know when lindasy plays these matches....like against serena, or venus, or Kim, we all think....Oh i hope lindsay does this well, or I hope lindsay isnt doing this....we aloways have doubt that Lindsay will screw up, not that Kim r venus will have issues.

In my opinion Lindsay will always have mental issues with her game against other players (venus/serna especially), becasue personally I dont think Lindsay is as confident as venus or Serna williams. Serena and Venus are generally much more confident people.

Maria has Serena to deal with in China, so it depends on which Serena turns up.
Lindsay should have Alicia in the 1/4's and Venus in the semis!

Andrew..

I doubt Alicia makes the quarters. Her form has been horrible since she came back.

Yes Jacs we can but that would make for a very boring board. If we all agreed with each other what would there be left to talk about apart from Lindsay wins but we can do it with less tension.

I'm not surprised, I had a feeling she would as it would have meant she would be playing 5 weeks in a row. Something she hasn't done for a long time.

Hopefully though this is not the end.

she will probally play the europe indoor season and and the champs in LA then it would not surprise me one bit if that were it....the candid answers she has been giving of late at the us open, bali etc...makes you wonder!

Andrew..

This isn't the end, drama queens.

I think she was fully aware that she wasn't going to be playing in Beijing for a while. Even after the US Open, she was clearly not thrilled about playing after Bali. I don't buy the "injury" line though. Probably just tired of playing after five weeks in a row.

I wouldn't be suprised if she entered Filderstadt now.

Oh well, kind of annoyed still.

 I'm going to die of shock because I completely agree with you Andrew ;)

I really don't think she ever had plans to play Beijing. She commited to it thinking she would be playing the cali events pre-USO, but the injury meant she had to change her prep by playing new Haven. So with that new schedule it meant she would be playing 5 weeks in a row which Lindsay doesn't like. She needed an excuse for getting out of Beijing and she could call up on the "back injury".

I really don't think there's anything wrong with her and she just wanted to go home before the european curcuit.

I don't know where the info came from where Lindsay said, she "doesn't know where to go from here".....does anyone have a link to a credible source? The only article I could find this morning was

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-09/19/content_479118.htm

"The second seed called the Beijing organizing committee from Bali, where she won the Wismilak International on Sunday, to notify her withdrawal citing a back injury."

I'm sure she's fine and she's not likely to quit tennis before the end of a season and before she wins title #50....whatever that will be and whenever that'll be.

Meh I doubt she plays Filderstadt either. As of today, she still hasn't requested a WC. She needs another "break", I guess.
