Danilidou had few chances in the firs 3 games but failed to capitalize on them,
She could be staring at 2 bagels or 2 bread sticks

Eleni's serve has been terrible all night :( She's had chances to win almost every game but can't capitalize...

To her credit, Sharapova has picked her game since the third game. She is making Danilidou move and it is visibly taking a toll

I think the second set will be closer now that Eleni has won a game.

I know it is too early, but if anyone was wondering where Sharapova's game is after her last withdrdrawal, I think she partially answered the question with a positive and fantastic performance in first set.

Its not that much of a thrashing. A lot of games went to duece.

I agree. But if all the dueces games are won by the same person, that tells you about the mental toughness and match management.
And I think Maria's camp has to be happy with her instinct and reactions

Maria's on court behaviour is still  to me!
Yes she's playing well
Yes she's motivated
Yes she's young
But come on, she's winning 6/1-2/0 and acting like an over-excited baby who wants an ice cream :tape:

That's just her way of keeping herself motivated. If it wins her matches then fine. I'd rather she win doing that than to lose holding it back.

how in anyway is that a Killing?

This is a very close match that is going Maria's way but in no way is it a killing.

I guess you are NOT watching.
Since those contested 3 games(which she won) in the first set, she has been holding easily.
And she has been dominating all facets of this match since that time.
And she

So you're saying that out of the four games she served in set one half of them she strugled to hold serve? Like I said that's not a killing.

what's that got to do with the price of tea in China? How does that change the fact that you titled a thread something that at the time wasn't true even if became true later....When you wrote that title it wasn't true at all.

It wa true. It was after 4-0.
Maria was winning all the dueuces because she was managing the match better than Danilidou. That is my point. Winning 40-0 or 40-15 is not the only way of dominating, it also frustrating your opponent. Like Andre Agassi does.

That's not killing your opponent that's playing the important points better...killing your opponent 4-0 is when you are breaking them easily and holding your serve easily none of which could've been said about that match.

so to sum up my opinion about your opinion............. WHATEVA!

It explains the beginning, the middle and the end of my opinion of your opinion on this subject. It's actually quite succint and to the point.

A great match from Masha.

And she had a lot of pressure being No 1 seed after a longish layoff. First match against a tough opponent.

Really Maria was always in charge after the 3rd game. She was enjoying herself in the final set, trying all sorts of different shots.
