PYW - Rogers Cup
Welcome to Toronto! This year the Rogers Cup is part of the PYW Tour for the first time. Next year, the city of Montréal will play host to all these PYW stars and their supporters, but for now Toronto takes the honours.
Twelve qualifiers and three lucky losers made it to the main draw, where a total of 56 players competed for the hotly contested title, with only four players remaining. It's one of the final tournaments in the PYW season. The start of the US Open will also mean the start of a new PYW season, so this is the final chance to improve the rankings, before points will have to be defended.

The semifinals are about to get underway, and the intriguing match-ups have the Toronto crowd excited.
The quarterfinals were all close, but it only provided one upset victim, and that was Nadia Petrova. Petrova fought valiantly in her match with Dally Randriantefy, and it got knotted up at 5-5 in the third, but when the going got tough, Randriantefy stood her ground aganst the barrage of power from Petrova and stayed surprisingly consistent to earn herself a berth in this elite final 4. One must have though that Dally's dream run would have ended by now, but she just keeps fighting and proving people wrong.
The other 3 matches provided no huge surprise, as top favourites Kim Clijsters and Anastasia Myskina beat Pennetta and Golovin respectively. French Big babe Mary Pierce also advanced, disposing of China's last hope Jie Zheng in two sets. The semifinals will be hotly contested, with the two most deserving players advancing to the prestigious final.
After all this being said, it's time for you to VOTE once more. Guide your favourite player one step closer to the Rogers Cup title.
