By looking at the teams i'd say Russia will win!;) :o

Apr 21st, 2002, 04:33 PM
It could be pretty uncomfortable for Russia is all I'll say. Both teams contain inconsistent performers, though Russia have the greater quality.

Wouldn't be too surprised if Russia squeak it in the doubles (which I can't see them losing).

Apr 21st, 2002, 04:58 PM
We rely on you, tarah ;) !!! Make the girls feel comfortable

With Alyona and Nastya playing singles I don`t think it will come to the decisive doubles.

Some details about the match:
Stadium capacity - 2500 (not impressive :))
Balls - Wilson

Apr 21st, 2002, 06:44 PM
Germany will win!!!!

Apr 21st, 2002, 08:42 PM
who will show it in Germany?DSF?

Apr 22nd, 2002, 01:55 AM
Go Barbara! Go Germany! :D

Apr 22nd, 2002, 06:11 AM
I think Elena Dementieva will win both of her matches and Nastya will win one.

Apr 22nd, 2002, 07:02 AM
I think the score will be 2:3, but Germany wil gain two points after Russia have won three single matches.

Apr 22nd, 2002, 12:41 PM
Good luck GERMANY !! :D

Apr 22nd, 2002, 05:31 PM
Who will play single and double (Germany and Russia), what do you think?????

Apr 22nd, 2002, 05:41 PM

Apr 22nd, 2002, 08:35 PM

Its not on TV live in Germany

As long as i can see a scoreboard :)

anyone found anything yet ?

Apr 23rd, 2002, 09:32 PM
Boiled, why has Ann K. withdrawn or has Tarpischev just said 'no' to her?

Just to be true. Elena D. is Russias sting. We - as Germans - just hope that Martina repeats her triumph of Budapest and Barbara or Marlene have one good match. In doubles Germans' chances are a bit higher than in the single-matches.

On the Russians side there's Anastasia that makes me worried. She's always dangerous. But how will she play in front of the German crowd ? How effective is her play on clay ?

Boiled, how do'ya estimate her ? Is she able to compensate a possible injury-handicap of Elena D. ?

Good luck all German players. GO TEAM GERMANY !:bounce:

Apr 23rd, 2002, 09:38 PM
Anna was never picked, she hasn't been mentioned at all really since 2000 when she lost all 3 singles.

Elena D as far as i know is pretty ok, hope she stays fit.

Anastasia's clay record is pretty decent, she did win Palermo in 1999, SF Kagenfurt 2000.
last yr she was recovering from operations so her clay game suffered.

Anastasia can play on all surfaces.

Doubles you guys can have that as long as its all over and we've won :)

Apr 23rd, 2002, 09:42 PM
;) we'll see, Boiled ! And don't underestimate Lamade !

here's the video-link again

Kris, is 'mdr' showing the matches live ?

Apr 24th, 2002, 06:58 AM
Yes, Eggy, NTV will show all matches live :)

Alyona wasn`t injured. She had a corn on her toe. She will be fit, leave all hopes she won`t :)

Apr 24th, 2002, 10:24 AM
thats great :)
at least we won 't be short of updates :)

Apr 24th, 2002, 05:32 PM
the German team:

from left: Scarlett Werner, Barbara Rittner, Marlene Weingärtner, Markus Schur,
Bianka Lamade, Martina Müller, Britta Knebel (Physiotherapeutin)

Apr 24th, 2002, 05:33 PM
WHY IS IT SO LARGE

Apr 24th, 2002, 07:26 PM
Kris, where did you get it?
Boiled, is NTV a Russian station ?
I can't find any TV-programme for Dresden so far: it's just ASHAMING for a country that won the Fed Cup 2 times !

The girls ahead look just easy-doing. Hope they've got a big big :D after they've beaten the Russian beauties !

Apr 24th, 2002, 07:46 PM
yes Kris

NTV is Russian :) but i cant see it here :(

Apr 25th, 2002, 12:45 PM
Shamil Tarpischev said that he`s very concerned with the German team. He estimated the chances of qualifying for the next round a little higher for the German girls. I don`t like it.

Apr 25th, 2002, 07:55 PM
I think it is a just mindgames. He probably doesn't want his girls to take Germans too lightly..

i agree
russia will win 1:4
all other would be a upset

Apr 26th, 2002, 08:36 AM
ys, I would like if these words are just a precaution, cause Mr. Tarpischev is well known as a very cautious man. But he didn`t say that last year before the tie vs Slovakia. Maybe you`re right pointing out that he`s afraid that Alyona and Nastya won`t take their opponents seriously, especially Muller.

Apr 26th, 2002, 02:37 PM
OMG, what a pic!!! Girls, I love you all :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: and my special  for Alyona!!!

Go, the Russian Team!!! Win that match!!!

Apr 26th, 2002, 03:11 PM
BOILED EGG!!!!!!!! Who is the bloke on the left?
Are you going to the Birmingham tournament? I'm trying to see if I can go. I hope I can.

Apr 26th, 2002, 03:13 PM
Cassius, that`s Shamil Tarpischev, team`s captain :)

Apr 26th, 2002, 03:51 PM
Go Russia! :D
(But I like Germany too!)

Apr 26th, 2002, 03:56 PM
yes Cassius, i will be there

Apr 26th, 2002, 04:56 PM
Guys, I think that this kind of girls is worth a much better uniform than this..:( This is just not pretty. Uniform, I mean.

Fresh, I am sure against Slovakia there was no possibility of understimation whatsoever.. First of all, Dementieva was completely out of sorts back then, she was really struggling and when Dementieva has no confidence, team has no confidence at all. Remember all those problems of picking up the #2. Hopefully will have a different kind of #2 problem soon, hopefully if we win, by the time we play Spain, all three of Nadya, Lina and Anna will be back at full flight, and we'll have a problem choosing whom to select.. Then we'll have a superteam. Hopefully.

Apr 26th, 2002, 05:07 PM
ys, if (*touching the wood*) we pass Germany will it be home or away tie with Spain?

Apr 26th, 2002, 05:29 PM
GERMANY WILL WIN 3-2 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Apr 26th, 2002, 06:05 PM
I think it is going to be away tie with Spain. Because we never played them, and in this case it is "if decided by lot" case, and by draw it is Spain who will be hosts. I am not sure though that Spain hosting it last year won't count, but most likely it won't.

Apr 26th, 2002, 06:10 PM
Rittner/Weingärtner in doubles??????

Markus Schur is just a idiot

2000 - Andrea Glass played all 3 singles matches, she was long injured before and lost all 3.
2001 - Barbara Rittner played both singles, despite Bianka´great performence on clay few weeks before

2002 - Rittner/Weingärtner in doubles - no comment

2003 - Claudia Kohde Kilsch will play single?????????

Apr 26th, 2002, 06:13 PM
@Kris: nice pic!!!!

Apr 26th, 2002, 06:15 PM
thanks, ys

Apr 26th, 2002, 07:25 PM
I guess Martina will beat Elena (just a feeling). The clay is by far slower than the Amelia Isl or Charleston surface. The humidity is high, the temperature will be low. Perhaps some matches could be cancelled cause of rain.
Elenas fh is strong if it slips away. This will not work here.

My prediction:
Müller def. Dementieva 6-4 2-6 6-4

then the question: how would Nastya react? pretty nerveous I hope. In that pic (it's a great one, Boiled) the two girls on the right look very confident but this will change after tomorrows singles, ;)
After this weekend-showdown I will keep on cheering for the Russians again, esp the Elenas ! But the next 48 hrs my heart/hope is with the underdog(-team).
Go Martina, Go Barbara ! :bounce:

Apr 26th, 2002, 09:40 PM

Apr 26th, 2002, 09:52 PM
I don't think the german girls have any real chance to win

Apr 27th, 2002, 12:59 AM
Germany has some chances, with Martina Müller being in form! ;)
GO GERMANY! :D  :bounce:

Apr 27th, 2002, 03:04 AM
I am too torn. To root for the Fatherland and my residence for two years or the players I got to meet and cherish those moments. Very nice pics of both teams. Elena D. looks almost as tall as Elena B. Must be wearing heels. lol
Barbara Rittner looks slimmer in the face. (was never heavy or anything like that).
Go Elena D.
Go Anastasia and Barbara R.
Go Barbara R. and Elena D.
Go Anastasia
Go Barbara R./Marlene and Elena D./Elena L.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Apr 27th, 2002, 04:59 AM
Happy belated 29th birthday to Barbara Rittner (25 Apr)!!:bounce:

Apr 27th, 2002, 06:56 AM

Apr 27th, 2002, 09:33 AM
Yes, Nina, they do.

Apr 27th, 2002, 01:11 PM

Any chance to get (live-)scores ?
