This tournament has been run with a bare bones philosophy for years. It was the same way before it came to the Home Depot Center when it was at the Manhattan Country Club. They give as little info as possible and as late as possible to the WTA and to whoever runs their own website. In past years they ran the qualies the same way. For example, though they had electronic scoreboards on the match courts, they would not use them during the qualies. That's sort of insulting to the players and to the fans. This year the qualies are at a different venue than the main draw matches. Some say it's because the X-Games are being held at the Home Depot Center. Whatever - it's another way to make the qualifiers feel very unappreciated.

Why provide a free scoreboard when you can charge for the service? :fiery: What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world but lose his own soul? [Mark 8:36]

Wap is working :p

It hasn't worked for me today when I wanted Daniilidou score while at work :fiery: And it isn't working now....just keeps saying, "There are no latest scores available on the mobile site, please check the website www.wtatour.com for more info." Does anyone know why Sony Ericsson aren't doing scores yet?

Well, I have complained.....via the Sony Ericsson site! I told them how great their service was during Stanford and San Diego and that I've very disappointed with the lack of scores during the JP Morgan Chase.......having sent the email/contact sheet I re-read the WAP live sores article at WTAtour.com and it says this:

"Available from today, in English, Spanish and French with more languages to follow shortly, the new WAP enabled services will be piloted at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, CA., and continued throughout the remainder of the year at the Acura Classic in suburban San Diego, the Rogers Cup presented by American Express in Toronto, the China Open in Beijing, the Ladies Kremlin Cup in Moscow, the Swisscom Challenge in Zurich and the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships in Los Angeles, before being expanded for the 2006 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season."

The article makes no mention of using the service this week - although it confused me that the event is listed in the "live scores" section of the WAP service

hopefully I'll hear something back from them....and if anyone else wants to complain, fill in a form via the "contact us" section of sonyericsson.com and use the supject from the drop down bar as "feed back on web services" or something like that :D

Well, I have complained.....via the Sony Ericsson site! ...

-Rache I think it's the promoter - AEG that's more to blame. In order to have real time scores you have to put score keepers on each court with laptops connected to a central server. I saw them down in San Diego last week. I think that AEG simply does not want to pay for that. You may have also noticed that the website for this event is sort of minimal. It has a nice look to it, but it's weak in terms of how much info is updated hourly or even daily. Once again I think this is a matter of how much man power AEG is willing to pay for. AEG's promotion of this event has been weak too. Their ads were so confusing that many people thought the tournament was taking place indoors at the Staples Center. Also, their website 'forgets' to mention that 16 first round matches were scheduled for the outside courts (as opposed to the stadium) on Monday morning and afternoon. It gives you the impression that the tournament starts Monday night. (Don't get me started on that.) Maybe I'm being too harsh on AEG. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But it seems that for many years this event has been run in a way disrespectful to the players, fans, and the game of tennis.
