View Full Version : Lindsay's Heavy Fall Schedule

Bali, a tier III I believe, have just announced the Davster is playing there in September, so this is her prospective calendar:

September 12th - Bali
September 19th - Beijing

October 3rd - Filderstadt [defending champ :hearts:]
October 10th - Moscow [Semi final points to defend and it is a tier I]
October 17th - Zurich

October 31st - Philadelphia

November 7th - Champs [she's already a lock to get 'in]

Lindsay only played three last year due to illness so this is an exciting schedule and though seems a lot at first is well thought out in terms of time at home and ends with two US tournies. Beijing and Bali are outdoor hard too so she's maybe getting her fix there after missing her favourite part of the season before the US Open.

Well, when I first saw the schedual I was a bit  but having looked at it I see that at no point does she play more that 3 weeks in a row and when she does, she takes at least a weeks off.....whether or not that is enough I can't say but the Dav knows herself better than we do, and if she thinks she can do it - she can do it! Plus most of it's indoors and she likes the indoors at this time of year :D

What you do is get your Wimbledon towels and throw them over the TV to reserve it for tennis! ;)

Cool schedule, where better to make up all these lost points? Just imagine the damage she can do, if she wins the USO

Davenport was not on the early entry list of Moscow. I keep hearing that they're slower courts, so I can't imagine why she would play the tournament.

lindsayno1
Aug 7th, 2005, 09:09 AM
she played there last year, got to the semis and was really ill there - lost to myskina. she couldnt breathe whilst playing

Elldee

I hope she isn't playing Moscow but it would seem weird to fly out to Germany, fly home for a week then pop back to Europe.

LOL...how you know that!?????

However it makes you wonder whether he has signed a pre-nup! Knowing lindsay i think probably yes.....i mean shes a very sensible woman!

I read he earns around $80,000 dollars a year.....which actually isnt that much! (like 50k p/a)

Lindsay herself said that he is very tight about money.

He for sure makes more than that, alot more. A low level investment banker in the US starts out in the low $100,000s. My guess is he's in the $200-250 range.

Andrew..

She could be playing Thailand the week of Moscow. They have money to hand out there. But, I doubt it. Really it's not too bad to take that week off. The final of Filderstadt is on Sunday, fly home that night. Remember she's gaining time flying west. Get into LA sometime Monday. Then, she doesn't need to leave LA until the following Monday at least. So, it's a full week at home.

I suddenly want to be an investment banker. And have a tennis star wife too.

I think a week off would be better for Lindsay than Moscow because she really is at a disadvantage of the slow carpet compared to the rest of the fall season.

I agree, and I really don't understand Moscow...

That carpet is probably the slowest I've ever seen. I don't get it.

Then don't get me started on the YEC last year. They might as well have been playing on indoor clay.

Hell yes. That's why it was so flukey that Sharapova won... Lindsay did insanely well to go 2-1 on that dumbass surface. I think she got fed up against Myskina and didn't give a crap against Serena either but luckily Serena fell apart [even moreso than Lindsay]. Sharapova beat Kuznetsova and Zvonereva - I could have done that - was beaten by Mauresmo, was being torn apart by Myskina and looked like a little helpless girl until Myskina forgot how to play tennis and then Serena injured herself even before she was up 4-0 in the third. Will it be as slow this year?

Aug 7th, 2005, 05:09 PM
I hope fucking not. I remember tuning in in the morning to see Davenport thrashing Dementieva and thinking WTF are they playing on. That and the camera angle made is horrible to watch. They had better speed it up this year.

Elldee
Aug 7th, 2005, 05:25 PM
Yeah, the camera angle made it feel like it was on a half pipe or something. The ball came off the surface weirdly too, there was no visible pace to rallies. The stuff they showed from 2003 looked pretty damn slow too. I am a big fan of fast surfaces; surely everyone wants fast action packed rallies?!

You know im not so sure...i just graduated from university and have secured a job at JP morgan Chase (the same company as Jon, but he works in San Fran) in New York in Portfolio management (which is investment banking on a personal front rather than company front) and my start off is $30k which is not particularly great for New York....guess its just becasue im a graduate!

To earn big money in investment you need to be a partner of the firm-well i think thats how it goes.....i hope you do earn $200-$250k id be laughing!

No, no... other than fed cup all the clay is packed into the clay season.

RayRob

No, no... other than fed cup all the clay is packed into the clay season.

Not true because the WTA have a load of clay court events after the grass season....Palermo (italy), Budapest (hungary) and Sopot (Poland) but certainly none towards the fall season (except ATP still have a couple). I think it's safe to say that the Madrid YEC won't be on clay! Hard court is more of a neutral surface so I'm pretty sure they'll stick with that

Madrid will be the same as the TMS Madrid Indoors on the ATP.

Aug 9th, 2005, 09:34 AM
Well, all those tournements [and all after the French] are smaller ones; tier III or below. They don't count to us Lindsay fans; I would die of shock if Lindsay played a low tiered clay tournement if their was any other surface on option.

I love the schedule although it is very busy but as she has missed most of her favourite hard court ones perhaps this is why. Just hope she will be fit enough. She could get some points here with a bit of luck.

Come on Linds :wavey:

wasnt there a bug going round or something that a couple of them caught? I remember lindsay was really poorly thou!
