Entry ListSvetaPleaseWin. Jul 31st, 2005, 05:32 PM Does anyone know who's playing here? FlushingMeadows Jul 31st, 2005, 06:18 PM Does anyone know who's playing here? I was told that they would announce it 2 weeks before the start of the tournament. Wiggly Jul 31st, 2005, 11:15 PM Can you put a "?" next time  I think Defending Champ Elena Likhovtseva is not defending her title ;) CrossCourt~Rally Aug 1st, 2005, 01:02 AM Can you put a "?" next time  I think Defending Champ Elena Likhovtseva is not defending her title ;) maybe she will play Pilot PEN...if she wins 1 match at the Pilot Pen that will equal almost the same amount of points for winning this whole tourney last year   ;) VeeDaQueen Aug 2nd, 2005, 09:24 AM hopefully ashley harkleroad Maryamator Aug 2nd, 2005, 06:44 PM yeah i tried to go on there website today... but i didnt find anything:( Wiggly Aug 2nd, 2005, 07:53 PM Official website: http://www.foresthillstennis.com/ :) Remember, it's a 16 players Draw with NO doubles (75 000$) :) Shonami Slam Aug 4th, 2005, 12:23 AM why do the WTAtour allow this tourny? honestly intrested, not bashing it. just a funny tourny. i understand it's an historical place... but can't it be "tierV" (none anymore) 110K or at least 100K? Shonami Slam Aug 4th, 2005, 12:27 AM intresting tourny rules. sounds like a pecial tourny! 416_Man Aug 4th, 2005, 02:01 AM why do the WTAtour allow this tourny? honestly intrested, not bashing it. just a funny tourny. i understand it's an historical place... but can't it be "tierV" (none anymore) 110K or at least 100K? It only has a 16 player draw, no singles qualifying, doubles, or doubles qualifying like the average tournament. This way having a prize money of 75k is likely equal to an 110k Tier V. Auckland (Tier IV - 140k) 1st Rd S. Qualifying - 175 x 16 = 2,800 2nd Rd S. Qualifying - 300 x 8 = 2,400 3rd Rd S. Qualifying - 550 x 4 = 2,200 = 7,400 1st Rd D. Main Draw - 550 x 8 = 4,400 QF Rd D. Main Draw - 1,000 x 4 = 4,000 SF Rd D. Main Draw - 1,850 x 2 = 3,700 FINALIST D. Main Draw - 3,475 x 1 = 3,475 WINNER D. Main Draw - 6,500 x 1 = 6,500 = 21,775 1st Rd. S. Main Draw - 1,000 x 16 = 16,000 7,400 + 16,000 + 21,775 = 45, 175 140 - 45,175 = 94,825 Also, take into account those losing first round will obviously get less than having lost in the round of 16 in a Tier IV. Overall, it's pretty fair. Shonami Slam Aug 4th, 2005, 03:06 AM wow - thanks for the money explanation :) but (omg, i'm so sorry for this) i'm just curious how does it fit in the tour and what exactly is it with the tourny... Mightymirza Aug 4th, 2005, 06:06 AM i think sania mirza has signed up for forest hills VeeDaQueen Aug 4th, 2005, 09:26 PM why do the WTAtour allow this tourny? honestly intrested, not bashing it. just a funny tourny. i understand it's an historical place... but can't it be "tierV" (none anymore) 110K or at least 100K? So the players that barely made it on the US Open entry list, or the players who are in slumps can actually have a chance at hard court practice. Most of the players that play here probably wouldn't qualify for the US Open Series events. Sorta like Cincy and Stolkholm, except it is a Tier V ;) spiceboy Aug 4th, 2005, 09:28 PM why do the WTAtour allow this tourny? It actually took too long for WTA to realize that with no other tournament around that week New Haven qualies looked stronger than most of Tier IV/V...completely ridicolous VeeDaQueen Aug 4th, 2005, 09:31 PM I'm a little disappointed with this tournament. Last year the director said that this year they would have 32 players, qualifying draw, and doubles. He lied :( alwayshingis Aug 5th, 2005, 12:47 AM It actually took too long for WTA to realize that with no other tournament around that week New Haven qualies looked stronger than most of Tier IV/V...completely ridicolous too true. In 2003 for instance, Farina Elia and Molik had to play qualifying. Shonami Slam Aug 5th, 2005, 11:32 AM So the players that barely made it on the US Open entry list, or the players who are in slumps can actually have a chance at hard court practice. Most of the players that play here probably wouldn't qualify for the US Open Series events. Sorta like Cincy and Stolkholm, except it is a Tier V ;) wait. i'm a bit slow - sorry "so the players that barely made it on the US open entry list" meaning MD or qualifications? "have a chance at hard court practice" - wasn't it supposed to be grass? "most of the players that play here probably wouldn't qualify for the US Open Series events" so why promote a BAD tourny? "sorta like Cincy and Stolkholm" - so why not really upgrade it to TierIV status? It's so bizarre with the 16 draw, no qualies and such. but I'm eager to get updated with this tourny - it seems special for me. Shonami Slam Aug 5th, 2005, 11:34 AM It actually took too long for WTA to realize that with no other tournament around that week New Haven qualies looked stronger than most of Tier IV/V...completely ridicolous and what's bad with strong quallies? I love the way the european indoor circuit requires top40 players to battle it out in the the quallies and top20 players meating in first round - it's great! why weaken the field, and why weaken it in a way that only 16 players go for a tourny that isn't worth many points. Shonami Slam Aug 5th, 2005, 11:36 AM oh - and thanks for the answers ! this really was a puzzle for me. now i understand why it could be called TierIV and not 75K ITF... and i know better who and why players go there in the first place :) i hope it wil be a great tourny! 416_Man Aug 5th, 2005, 01:28 PM Forest Hills is like the "Tier IVs", Hobart and Canberra who's prize money is 110k, but it lacks the doubles, singles qualifying and a full round of play. As well, Forest Hills as a venue does not have the seating capacity to have more than one hardcourt, hence they hold challengers. And the WTA will make more money if there are more tournaments, because this way the tournament fees will be paid to the WTA. And having a strong New Haven qualifying does not mean more money ;). amirhendel Aug 5th, 2005, 03:28 PM smashnova said that she will play there brunof Aug 6th, 2005, 04:48 AM I thought this tournament was hacked. Perhaps Anna Kournikova should come out of retirement...and get herself a title here! ;) :tape: :tape: Mightymirza Aug 6th, 2005, 08:08 AM I thought this tournament was hacked. Perhaps Anna Kournikova should come out of retirement...and get herself a title here! ;) :tape: :tape: I dont think she can win a title even here right now..Smashnova will be enoigh for her.. Shonami Slam Aug 6th, 2005, 01:36 PM I dont think she can win a title even here right now..Smashnova will be enoigh for her.. only if they meet in the final :haha: Wiggly Aug 6th, 2005, 11:38 PM Dally Randriantefy Iveta Benesova Roberta Vinci Anna Smashanova Lucie Safarova Meghann Shaughnessy Shahar Peer Kristina Brandi Antonella Serra Zanetti Sania Mirza Mariana Diaz-Olivia Akiko Morigami Maria Elena Camerin Marticha Sucha Zuzna Ondraskova WC But in section preference, all player put a "2" Sharapova's_Boy Aug 7th, 2005, 04:40 AM Tnanks Wiggly. :D Go Lucie. :woohoo: Shonami Slam Aug 7th, 2005, 10:56 PM i didn't know shahar would play here :) seems like a very nice tourny actually! I'm really getting fond of it! William Hunt Aug 7th, 2005, 11:22 PM Last year Flipkens played here. I think Shahar Peer could be a possible title contender here. 416_Man Aug 8th, 2005, 12:32 AM This might not be the field because all of the players put it under their "2nd priority commitment". If any player makes it into the main draw of New Haven (their 1st priority commitment) then they will be withdrawn from Forest Hills. Makkabi Aug 8th, 2005, 04:30 AM :bounce: Shahar Peer & Anna Smashnova :bounce: ~GOOD LUCK~ :bounce: Mightymirza Aug 8th, 2005, 06:34 AM sania mirza... *Jean* Aug 8th, 2005, 07:08 AM Ooh Meghann !! :bounce: pan Aug 8th, 2005, 10:42 AM just one us-girl in maindraw? Paule22 Aug 8th, 2005, 10:05 PM would be great if meghann can win a title here. but as i know rafael, meghann and anna-lena will play new haven. Explain yourself ! CooCooCachoo Aug 12th, 2005, 07:26 AM What do U mean with this ? Explain yourself ! It means they are on the entry list for another event that week. And if they can get into that event, they'd rather play there than in Forest Hills. iPatty Aug 12th, 2005, 02:57 PM LOL Akiko will roll over this field. They have no chance. CrossCourt~Rally Aug 12th, 2005, 06:22 PM What do U mean with this ? Explain yourself ! It means that if they can get into PILOT PEN the same week that they will play there instead..PILOT PEN is #1 priority. :D Babolatpro880 Aug 15th, 2005, 02:44 PM too true. In 2003 for instance, Farina Elia and Molik had to play qualifying. Farina Elia played in qualifying that year because she entered late. Mathijs Aug 15th, 2005, 03:17 PM Let's go Iveta and Zuzana!!! :yeah: rrfnpump Aug 15th, 2005, 04:24 PM LOL Akiko will roll over this field.
