Justine Henin just cannot find an answer for Venus Williams.
Henin remained winless in finals against Williams, who stormed back Sunday for a hard-fought 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) victory in the final of the $585,000 Bausch & Lomb Championships.

This was the fourth time and third this season that Henin had met Williams in the final of a tournament. The rising star from Belgium has found her nemesis as she dropped to 0-4 in such showdowns.

Williams beat Henin in three sets in last year's Wimbledon final and has dispatched her this year in the championship rounds at Gold Coast and Antwerp. Overall, she is 5-1 lifetime against Henin, winning the last five matchups.

Henin keeps getting closer. Three of the finals losses have come in three sets and Sunday marked the first time she had won the first set. But since a straight-sets win on clay in the round of 16 at Berlin last year, she has been unable to break through.

This one also was on clay, perhaps accounting for Henin's quick start. Williams, 21, was able to regroup and claim $93,000 for her fourth title of the year. The top-ranked player in the world also won the Paris Indoor.

Henin, 19, was denied her fifth career title. In the 10th final matchup of the top two seeds and first since 1995, she failed in a bid to become just the third No. 2 to upend No. 1.

The rain-plagued tournament forced many competitors to play twice in one day and became a survival of the fittest. Williams, one of the most powerful players on the WTA Tour, overwhelmed Anne Kremer in the semifinals.
