Aug 12th, 2005, 09:13 PM
I know Liina personally. She went to Illinois State University here in my city and she helped with the tennis camps I go to. She's really nice and a good player. She played a few $10K's earlier this summer and did ok. :)

Aug 19th, 2005, 10:18 AM
Ani d. Bychkova
but she lost to Nooni in Bronx

Aug 28th, 2005, 10:37 PM
Ani,Kanepi and Ruutel all played qualifying in USO
Ani and Ruutel lost in first round Kanepi in second

Sep 8th, 2005, 04:27 AM
Why is there so few things about Maret Ani? I think she's a very talented player and very cute too! I hope she can finally raise her ranking better than #105 - so that she doesnt have to fail everytime in GS qualies...
I would to badly see her in a GS match - even if she loses in a 1st round...
She's really too cute and she looked also very funny on pics I've seen on a site... Hope she can receive more success+attention in the future soon...

Angelic looking girl... Very cute face and her boobs aren't bad at all

Sep 8th, 2005, 04:31 AM
hope Maret can repeat her Australian Open doubles effort (2003?)
With Prusova. I think it has been her biggest achievement and success so far.
Since I've seen her, I love Estonia :hearts:

Sep 18th, 2005, 07:53 AM
Maret is in the MD of Portoroz against Bartoli(5) :scared:

Oct 9th, 2005, 06:03 PM
Maret will reach a career-high next week again ~#111

she is playing way too much
I think she hasnt made a break since 3 months
she plays every 50k and 75k in Europe! she also entered the next 50ks in France
I hope this wont make her tired in 2006

please Maret, get some rest!!!

Oct 10th, 2005, 07:44 AM
Maret said that her goal is to be ranked high enough for next year AO main draw.

Oct 11th, 2005, 07:22 AM

Maret is definitely playing a lot, but not quite 3 months in a row. ;) Her last break was after US Open, and she has been playing without a break since September 12th or so. So it's 5 weeks in a row now with this week's tourney. Still a lot considering she plays both sinlges and doubles. Hopefully, she gets enough rest before the next season. :)

It would be great if she makes the main draw in AO, plus top 100 is not that far away any more. ;)

Oct 16th, 2005, 07:41 PM
Kaia and Maret faces each other in St. Raphael, but Maret doesn´t play Doubles

Oct 16th, 2005, 11:06 PM
I hope she can collect enough rank pts or - alternatively - beat again a hi-quality player like Bartoli (in terms of ranking) to enter the Top 100 finally.
She definitively is gifted with enough talent! FORZA EESTI!!!
And of course also good luck to Kaia Kanepi - hope she can also get her ranking higher than #105 to enter the AUSOPEN without qualies!

Maret must be directly qualified, as she usually struggles in qualies - last time she was in a GS main draw was USOPEN 2003 when I'm correctly informed...

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:25 AM
What a bad draw for Maret and Kaia! :( Facing each other in the 1st round. :( Hopefully, whoever wins goes far in the draw. :)

Maret must be directly qualified, as she usually struggles in qualies - last time she was in a GS main draw was USOPEN 2003 when I'm correctly informed...
Yeah, she really does struggle in qualies. Her one and only time in the main draw was USO 2002. She lost in the final qualifying round in USO 2001 and 2003. Only other time she made the final qualifying round was Wimbledon 2004. So yeah, making it directly into the main draw would be awesome. :D Same goes for Kaia :D, of course, but Kaia still needs loads of points. Hope she has enough time to earn them. :)

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:28 AM
where do they play? Italy? K75?

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:31 AM
France... St. Raphael 50K.

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:35 AM

Must say, it sounds funny and interesting for my "German-used" ears

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:36 AM

Oct 17th, 2005, 01:42 AM

Good luck with it. :) Not an easy language to learn. ;)

It's quite a strong 50K field, but Kaia and Maret both are capable doing well there. This is Maret's 6th week in a row now. Hope she still has some energy left. ;)

That's their quarter of the draw:
(6)Aranxta Parra Santonja v Camille Pin
Selima Sfar v Marie-Eve Pelletier

Kaia Kanepi v Maret Ani
(2)Jelena Kostanic v Jarmila Gajdosova

Oct 17th, 2005, 07:23 AM
wow, that was the match-up I was always waiting for
there were some chances that Maret and Kaia would face each other in a final this year, but Kaia lost in semis
I think and hope Maret will win it :D

Does anyboby know Margit Ruutel?

I hope that s.o has alreary seen her play...I would like to know if she plays 2 handed backhand and forhand?? I'm making a survey about the girls who are playing tha ttype of game.

I saw pictures of her but she was hitting backhand on it (double handed) but there was no pics o nher forehand...

I really hope that s.o will give me a reliable information about that.

Don't know if I'm allowed to post the picture (copyright?) from her site www.maretani.com but I'm truely fallen in love with her. A good player, obviously - and additionally very, very cute...
She tops all the Hantuchova's, Sharapova's and whatsoever.
She's such a natural beauty. Please, Eurosport, show her match in AO MD next year!!! I'd be very lucky!!!
And, Maret, please improooove even more!!! I want to get an autograph from you when you play in Zurich MD next year (hoooooopeeee ;) )
You're the only player I'd love to get an autograph from!!!

What about an own sub-forum for our wonderful Estonian darling? Oh, I think I've gotten a Maretmaniac

Hi, rrfnpump! :wavey: Cool to meet some Maret fans here! That's right, she should have her site better updated. She's now a top 100 girl and will hopefully rock some bigger names soon!!!
I hope she can soon win a WTA title. Great step forward for her, that successful trip to Saint-Raphael. I was very happy when I saw she won. Without losing a set all the way. She has a bright future! :bounce:

Dec 6th, 2005, 04:05 PM
could you tell me what she said about her future plans? I didnt understand anything and tourned the sound off after some time, cause it annoyed me

Well, she said in short term she would like to stay in top 100 and then move into top 50. She will next year concentrate on bigger tournies (WTA I presume). She have been receiving help from sports shrinks (don't know the correct term :o ) and she would like to continue those sessions. She hinted that it's probably one of the factors why she's doing so fine these days. She knows thanks to them herself better now she said.

Dec 6th, 2005, 04:54 PM
thanx

good luck Maret next year :yeah:

Just to clear this up - yes Estonia is not the 'poorest' country in the world but compared to other 'bigger & richer' countries such as the scandanavian countries and canada, Estonia is very impressive.

I wasn't bagging Estonia - its a great country and i want to visit there one day!!! :)

Dec 17th, 2005, 10:19 AM
Estonian Kaia Kanepi will appear in next week's ranking in the Top 100 for the first time after reaching the final in $75K+H Dubai today.

20 year old Kanepi, once ranked #1 junior player of the world has suffered several injuries in the last few years that prevented her to get to the top and has only found some regularity in the second half of the year showing that she's one to watch.

Playing her last junior season in 2001 being only 16 she played only 20 matches at this level losing only 2 of them. Her best result came at Roland Garros when she won the title beating top players like Jamea Jackson, Sofia Arvidsson, Dinara Safina, Myriam Casanova, Ashley Harkleroad and Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final (the only one who could win a set against Kaia) and later in the year she would defeat Sharapova and Safina (again) before falling in a 3rd set tie break against eventual winner Bartoli in the US Open.

And considering she's got nothing to defend in the first 6 months of the year we could see her actually getting higher in the rankings

Do you have Estonian ties?

Dec 23rd, 2005, 08:47 PM
I saw Maret Ani against Martina Muller at the USO 2001,I think in german TV and since that I´m a big fan of Maret and Martina and then I heard from Kaia Kanepi and found a video about her ,that are the reasons :D

Meng Yuan (CHN) d Kaia Kanepi (EST) 6-2 6-4

Dec 30th, 2005, 07:26 AM
Maret :(
that was a close one. She now sees that is is a completely different playing at WTATour niveau - I am pretty sure she would have beaten Haynes in a challenger. I think Haynes just won, because she has more experience playing WTATour tournaments. Maret has to learn from that match and move on - many WTA tournaments to come up!

As for Kaia I am pretty dissappointed with her performance. I thought she would put up a better fight. Meng for sure is a talented player, but so is Kaia!

Kaia :smash:

would love to see a Ani/Kanepi doubles at the Australian Open :D
