I've been a tennis fan since I was 12, so for 8 years now, and not one match have I seen in my entire life. Eventhough I live an hour away from Toronto.
This is so exciting. I bought 2 tickets for Aug. 17th (2nd round).
It's funny how things make you so exciting.
:bounce:

I don't know what to expect, but it will be fun. It's in the morning session, so three matches, maybe I'll see Venus or Serena play, :bounce: (I will seriously bounce if I do), but any players' would be great cause I like them all and apprciate their skills and talents.
Anyone know the weather forecast fo August 17th ;)

Just wanted to share my happiness :)

Ohhh yes! The qualies are very fun. There are a lot of players practising on that day also.

The qualifying days are really good for the men's competition because there aren't really big events preceding TMS Toronto, but for the woman's its much different. Most of the players won't be getting in until Sunday. (Venus and Anastasia likely reaching Stockholm final and Serena and the others doing well in L.A.) And if those players get in Sunday, they are OBLIGATED to go to the Player Party at the Hilton. So, don't expect too many of the best practising, like at the men's last year when in an empty grounds I get Hewitt's, Haas', and (T. and J.) Johansson's autographs in a snap. The best day will be the Tuesday/Wednesday because Monday's schedule (only about 8 matches played last year on Monday) is usually shit because the OTA has to give out tickets to all of its clubs and doesn't want to waste too much money on non buying fans.

Again, I've talked for an hour to you poor people. Hope to see you guys there, because I'm there for the whole week in bronze ;).

I've gone to the Rogers Cup (formerly Du Maurier) tournament each year for the last 10 years. The security measures have increased since the new Rexall stadium was built, which makes it a bit tougher to move around between each court then before, but you are still so way close to the players, its very exciting!

You get to see a lot of the top Canadian juniors, some great qualy players and of course some top 10 players! I got Serena Williams' autograph once! :D

I remember the first time I ever went, I was in awe of how close I got to the players and how close I was able to see players play matches on the side courts.

Depends on the quality of the players playing.

Two years ago? Yes, for sure. I saw players from the opposite sides of the talent spectrum. There was Nancy Loeffler Caro to Aneta Soukup to Svetlana Krivencheva to Angelique Widjaja....and ALL got direct entry :tape:

Loeffler Caro and Soukup got in on their own rankings :tape: :tape: Thank God the cut off for the main draw will be like 50 so hopefully the cut off for qualies will be 150 *crosses fingers*. But I remember two years ago, there were A TON of byes in the qualy draw.

I was close to buying final tickets, but they are so expensive and it's only one match. I never expect a lot from the final because it could be an injury, rain delay, or a stomping and steamrolling.

Thats the fun part. Expected the unexpected. I think thats why my friend said to get day passes for the qualifying matches because the tickets are cheap and the matches are entertaining and all and some players even dive for shots or whatsoever.
