The crowd atmosphere in the 99 french final, although I don't altogether support the crowds reaction to Hingis (Not at all really but feel she didn't necessarily help herself). This was a crowd I defintley would have liked to have been part of.

i know it's men's but the 2001 wimbledon final between ivanisevic and rafter on "people's monday" was UNBELIEVABLE, i'd never seen centre court so loud and rowdy, the true fans actually got to be there and there were some crazy australians there too that were so fun, plus the match was unbelievably dramatic, and even though my favorite lost, how could you not be happy for goran?!
again, apologies about it being men's, but this wins hands down for me...although 03 us open semi is a great choice for women's

Monica Seles v Serena Williams, Canadian Open 2002 (i think) Wonderful wonderful match, watched it the other day

the break point stats said it all about both players. Serena only faced 1 or two...great service games. Monica faced LOADS, and saved LOADS, losing only 1. Crowd were so into it the way she kept fighting back in her service games!

Hantuchova v that Japanese player in Wimbledon 2003 on court 2 was great, I was there for that one.

was it this "windy" match?
The windy match was Dementieva/Capriati a year later. It was a great match as well.

The Jen/JHH match was electric. US Open at night is unparalled in my opinion in terms of atmosphere. With that match, the whole crowd was enthralled....they and we knew it was something special. It had everything...it was a complete match in terms of quality and drama.

Is it possible to get the Capriati/JHH match on video or DVD? I've wanted to see it again for a long time.

I would agree.... by far the best atmosphere I have witnessed. 4 years later, and I still hold my breath when I see Pat hit those drop volleys off his feet break point downs down in the 5th. The level of play was unbelieveable, especially considering the occasion. And the drama of Goran double faulting twice on championship point... it was unreal.

And it probably didn't hurt that the two guys competing were possibly the two most popular players at the time. The crowd was cheering for both players. Even I was happy for Goran, even though he beat my favourite player of all time.

I just watched for the first time the 86 FedCup final when Martina Navratilova played against Hana Mandlikova and Czechoslovakia, as an American.

It was just great to see such a packed crowd although in some ways you had to feel for Hana because the crowd was definitely cheering for Martina on many occasions during the match.

Probably the most unusual circumstance in tennis history.

05 Wimbledon Final!

true although I think the atmosphere was even more electric in the semi-final between Vee and Sharpy as the crowd were so relieved and jubilant to start with when they heard that Momo and Lindsay were shoved to Court.no1 so that they were left with the main course on Centre Court

The crowds at Madison Square Garden used to be really into all the matches (YEC's)- that was always fun to see... and of course the US Open crowds are really known for their vocal support of great matches. The atmosphere at (Staples Center) last years YEC in Los Angeles was wonderful, particularly in the Serena-Maria final and the Serena-MoMo semi-final...
