Alexandra Stevenson is playing this week at the 50K ITF event in Louisville, KY. I thought her fans would like to know. I think this is her first event back after a long injury absence (shoulder?), but I may be incorrect. She faces Jewel Peterson in the 1st round and probably Shihka Uberoi in the 2nd.

She played in the 50K Los Gatos challenger a couple weeks ago and lost first round by 6-1 5-7 6-3 to Ryoko Fuda, who should be in the top 100 within the next several months...

That's a winnable 1r match for Alex.

Will be interesting to see how Jewel handles this ...

but good for Alex, to hit the Challengers and not just count on WCs into the WTA events. You can't fault her for that.

I actually believe that Alex has loads of talent and that her injuries played a huge part in her not performing well. That and her lack of fitness.

If she can get her ass fit and start gaining some confidence she'll be top 20 in no time. barring injuries too of course. Alex has game and I can't wait until she climbs back to the top 20 again.

How old is Alex nowadays, anyway? 23, 24 or so?

That is sadly true ._.

Of all people, why did she choose to be Alex's bitch?

Go Alexandra. When I first got into tennis, I always heard of her, but I was never able to watch her play. Hopefully she can regain her form and start playing GSes so I can finally watch a match of hers.

Lexy is 24.
She'll be 25 in december.

I hope she does well here and wins
a few matches.

I like her chances against
Jewel and possibly Shikha.

Hard to believe she's like ranked #834

 yeah that is bad alright. I mean what I could never understand was how Jenny was the ONLY top player that Alex could beat on a regular basis. Did Alex have a secret hatred of Jen or something that always fired her up to play so well against her? Anyway, good to hear she is back. Hopefully, she can rack up a few wins and get back in the top 30 at least eventually.

You won't hear about her if she plays GSes. She's been past the second round all of once in her entire career.

Same here!

Have never gotten to see her play.

She played the US Open last year but went
down to Ruano Pascual in the 1st rd.

Hopefully if she can win a couple of these winnable
mayches she has this week, maybe it'll give her
some confidence to build on.

Didn't Jewel Peterson have a couple of big wins a few months ago? I seem to remember that name. She's African-American and her name came up on a message board at some point and her picture was posted somewhere. I can't remember now. Maybe her name came up in connection with some of the other young African-American players. I don't know.

Anyway, thanks for the info on Alex. I really like her even though she frustrates the heck out of me. It is good that she's playing in the minor leagues rather than accepting wild cards into tournaments where she would likely lose first round. Maybe she's taking advice from Andre Agassi (they're friends, you know). I hope she picks up his work ethic and gets into great shape.

Oh, she's doing that, as well. ;)

Jewel hasn't had a great season. I believe she qualified for Miami earlier this year, and that's pretty much it.

As I said before, this is a winnable match for Alex. (!)
