After her disappointment when losing to Serena at Wimbledon. Can she overcome her self doubt and regain her US Open crown. Yes it will be an extremely difficult task considering that Lindsay has not been defeat at Flinders Meadows for going on 3 years now.We must not forget the challenge from the Williams cousins and with Justine Henin back from her stint on jury service, and the emergence of new Russian superstar Elena Dementieva. Makes for a fascinating renewal.

Can Sveta defend her US Open crown.
Sveta is the only Russian currently holding a major.

A more accurate question is: can Jennifer Capriati play again so good as she did last year?

It may be because I've consumed a considerable amount of red wine this evening, but I found that first post vaguely amusing.

noWe'll find out on the court.
But it's Sveta's title. And the 2004 US Open will always be Sveta's first major.
