To combat those post-Wimbledon blues and before the US hardcourt season gets under way, here's a question: How would you guys organise the tour to take into account the globalisation of tennis?

How long an off-season should there be?
Where would you place the slams in the calendar?
How many Tier I events would you have and where/when would they take place?
How would you divide up the tournaments between the various surfaces and the various continents?
Which tournaments would you scrap, which would you resurrect and which would you preserve?
What new cities deserve tournaments?
What would you do with the team competitions, such as the Hopman and Fed Cups?
When/where would you locate the tour championships and what format would you choose for the event?

Over to you!

I'd leave everything as it is.

The only thing I'd change is maybe a longer offseason, but to compensate for the longer offseason, I think they should cut the Hardcourt season at the beginning of the year by a month.

And also the YEC. I don't think it's great to be in Spain...Europe already has enough big tournaments. And if it's in Spain, coverage will be terrible for us Americans :fiery: So I think it should be in Canada or something (East coast, of course).

Basic Upward Movement Protocol

Interesting questions. I'll have to take some time to think about it. Meanwhile, I want to put the thread where I'll find it.

i'd leave it the same too, the real problem with odd coverage windows for events overseas is that ESPN won't air it live, i don't know enough about the costs of airing events, but you'd think that they could find some time at 1am or 4am or whatever to air some live tennis, i'm sure there is nothing better to put on at that time, ultimately, think about tennis in the early 90s, when there was american event after american event (remember stratton mountain, vermont? did that EVER deserve a tournament???) its so great there are a bunch of events all over now, and i love it that way, the only possible changes would be add that one extra week of grass tennis between the french and wimbledon, because this IS lawn tennis technically, so the lawns deserve more events, i like the rotation of the YEC because it helps different countries to get the prestigious tournaments (spain has a few already though....)

I agree with the ESPN comment. It's really pathetic how they would not show Live tennis late at night. I mean, I'm sure tennis fanatics would watch, I sure would wake up. I've woken up at 2AM to watch matches (especially during Warsaw this year and RG and Wimbledon each year). It's a better alternative. What else would they show? Bassmaster? I'm sure people really want to watch that in the middle of the night  But yeah, I really would like to know WHY they don't do it? Is it because of the costs? Maybe someone with insider knowledge about television broadcasting can help us out with an answer?
