World Group I

Russia
France
USA
Spain

Belgium
Germany
Italy
Austria

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spain is going to be one of the top 4 seeds :o while Belgium once again bottom 4. I hope Belgium draws Spain in the first round so then the SF can be Russia, France, Belgium and USA (the four superpowers in women's tennis). I also hope Juju gets off her ass and plays so then the SF can feature top 10 players slugging it out against one another.

World Group II

Czech Republic
Switzerland
Croatia
Argentina
China
Japan
Thailand
Indonesia

Not sure who will be seeded here but I think maybe the Asian teams will be unseeded. Assuming Patty is not playing, Czech Republic, China and Japan are the strongest teams here. They should all be in World Group I instead of Germany and Austria :tape: . Hopefully none of these teams draw each other. If Shuai Peng can get herself onto the Chinese team, I believe they are not going to be stoppable by the other teams in this section.

I'm sorry, but it appears that Justine spends most of her time during Fed Cup player on getting those breasts bigger. That's all she has time for nowadays.

You would think Belgium would be bumped into a seeding just from Clijsters. If Belgium did draw Spain, it would likely result in the "Big 4" in the semis, although if any of the other 3 seeds were shorthanded and had to travel to Italy, there's potential for an upset.

In Group II, it might be interesting to see 4 Asia vs non-Asia matchups. Home court would decide a lot. The 4 Asian teams are better suited to faster surfaces. Patty is the huge X factor. With her, Switzerland is probably the strongest team in the Group. Without her, it could become the weakest. (Pending whether Gagliardi plays. Bacsinszky is still developing, so there's no way of knowing when she might break through.)

Geez, the "ass" will have to come later. Can't promise
you Fed Cup for 2006, but I'm sure the "ass" may look better. :p

Belgium not a seed? that sucks. Oh well, if Justine plays too they could get past France, Russia and Spain pretty comfortably. Another first round Belgium-USA would be a great encounter, but would come too soon :(

Austria is in World Group I without a top 100 player! I don't know if that never happen before?

But in play-offs, they had to play Swiss who without Schnyder, have only teenagers and Casanova who only play in Fed Cup and is not at 100%...

I think with tthe teams at the moment, Czechs and Chineses are the best teams so I think Czechs, China, Croatia and Argentina will be seeded so they should be in World Group I play-offs because I don't see Japan, Indonesia, Thailand or Swiss beats them at the moment... ;)

But how seed are made? With ranks?

I would imagine the seeding will be like this?

World Group I

*(seeded - FED Cup Ranking after SF)

Russia (1) or (2) depending of the Final result
France (1) or (2) depending of the final result
Spain (3)
USA (4)

Belgium (5)
Austria (6)
Germany (7)
Italy (8)

World Group II

* (seeded - FED Cup Ranking)

Switzerland (1 - Rank 10)
Indonesia (2 - Rank 11)
Croatia (3 - Rank 12)
Thailand (4 - Rank 13)

Japan (5 - Rank 14)
Czech Republic (6 - Rank 15)
China (7 - Rank 16)
Argentina (8 - Rank 17)

 How can Czechs be 15th when Austria is actually 7th  (without a top 130 player)

But seeds are strange, I was thinking unseeded will be seeded  but I think Czechs and Chinal will have n problems to beats Swiss, Indonesia, Croatia and Thailand (maybe Croatia but not too much  ) and how Slovaks can be 6th if next year they will be in Europe qualies

I know, how is Indonesia seeded 2? They only have Widjaja and she's injured! And Wynne coming back from injury.

Fed Cup rankings are based on performance what a novel idea. If you don't give a shit about playing for country you don't deserve to be seeded high. Spain has made the semis two years in a row they should be in the top 4

My analysis:

JHH isn't go to play lets be realistic. Even with Clijsters, every tie for Belguim would have to come down to doubles and they just barely beat the Argentian doubles team (w/o Suarez) this weekend. So with this I would maybe put Belguim and Spain on equal ground, and if Fed Cup form were the tie-breaker Spain would win out anyway. There's no way that anybody but Russia, France, USA, and Spain should be in the top 4 seeds.

Whoever wins between Russia and France will be #1. The USA will probably get #3 over Spain, but 3 and 4 are the same thing so it doesn't really matter. Austria will be the weakest team in World Group 1 by a long ways unless Tamira Paszek improves very quickly over the next 9 months. Even so, they won't able to beat any of the top 4 teams. I suppose a Spain v. Belguim quaterfinal would be fair, because they are the 4th and 5th best teams IMO. Italy v. USA would be good too, Italy deserves a shot at making it past the quaterfinals. France and Russia should get the weakest teams (Austria and Germany). France and USA could be in the same half to mix it up from this year.

In WGII hopefully the better 4 will face the lesser 4. It would suck to have Czech Republic play China. Hopefully it'll be Czech Rep./Argentina/China(they are solid in both singles and doubles)/Japan(same as China) vs. Croatia(unless Sprem and Kostanic turn things around)/Switzerland(I think Patty has stopped playing Fed Cup for good)/Thailand/Indonesia. If they went purely on performance it would be the WGI playoff losers v. the WGII playoff winners.

they would have to give Patty a lot of money i would imagine to make rainer convince her to come back to fed cup ;)

Patty won't come back, too many arguments with the Fed Cup Team and scheduling-wise..
