I guess Nastya is probably the best Fed Cup player out there. Itīs just amazing how she can pull through all those matches for her country.

Congrats Russia and hope Nastya can kick ass in the next months...I am really looking forward to that!

hmm, now why wasn't Mashona picked to play against Myskina? surely she was to be considered to have a better chance than Jill.

Zina Garrison is a dumbass if she thinks that Jill Craybas has a better chance to win againt Myskina than Mashona Washington.. THat was a RIDUCULOUSLY STUPID Call on her part and it cost them the tie...

Why surely? Craybas is more of a claycourt specialist, not Mashona. And do you seriously think that Mashona would succeed where Williams failed? I somehow think that Craybas would have had a decent chance against Dementieva.

Didn't Ms. Washington lose pretty decisively to the #2 singles player yesturday? Sorry, but Washington doesn't have enugh of a track record to suggest throwing her out there again vs. the #1 girl was the logical move. It was worth a shot to go with the vet Craybas. Garrison was dealt a poor hand this tie - an injury weakened team, playing on clay.

Anastasia is the most clutch Fed Cup player out there. I wish she was as clutch on the tour. Part of her appeal though.

I think playing Craybas was stupid but it did not cost US the tie. Washington would have lost to Myskina as well.

IMO picking Craybas was the better move. Jill has a better clay court record than Mashona, has bigger wins than Mashona on clay and more success at the tour level on clay. Furthermore, Mashona treed against Dementieva. She does NOT play like that every day, and definitely not on clay. Jill doesn't have a big game, but she makes you beat her. Given the gaps of inconsistency that Elena and Anastasia are both prone to having, throwing someone like Jill in there was a smart move. It didn't pan out, but it doesn't mean that it was a bad move.

Mashona lost 5-7 4-6.. i dont think that is decisive..

And for the person who said Jill has a good track record of clay... I dont know what your smoking because she didnt win ANY MATCHES on clay in 2004 and has only won 5 this year with her best wins coming over Cervanova and Sucha.. Not that impressive
