Just one thing. The draw for this actually looks a lot tougher than the draw at the Teir IV Internazional di Modena. Why didn't more top players play that and wouldn't it have actually been a good time for Dokic to play it?

For somene who used to play top events 2 years ago and play challengers, no matter if she receives WC's or not, already shows, at least to me, that she's trying.

She was quite unlucky in the last 2 tournaments she played because she faced 2 players who're playing pretty well lately, especially @ challenger level and on clay. Had she faced a non-seeded or a lower ranked player, she could have had better chances to finally win a 1st round match.

And I won't compare her career with someone's else career cuz it would be really meaningless, simply because haters can never see some players' potential.

I agree she has an ego the size of the moon, but this is not incompatible with incurring career finishing big injuries, If you do not believe me, call Dr. Heinz Buehlmann at he Bethanienheim Cilinic in zurich. He operated her twice and can post you on the limitations dhe has to face,

Monica isn't playing, in fact unfortunatelly she is unofficially retired and frankly I don't see her coming back except exhibition and certainly don't think she would have any impact if she decided to return now. right now , she is acting mostly as an ambassador for the game when she appears somewhere like Wimbledon couple of days ago or Rogers Cup next month.

She is doing something different and making a difference off the court when she can't do it on the court anymore. I would feel different if she was doing something she used to do well and had no results to show for it. I just have respect for her and what she does

Welcome to the real world, my friend, where you should take with a grain of salt what journalists have to say in whatever field. Journalists, especially in sports can't get a contnious flowing stream of news, so they have to contrive stuff, resucitate players, manufacture unproven new ones, etc. Otherwise, they don't get a paycheck.
In the case of Martina, observe that this guy is just making subjectiuve opinions: "her body LOOKS fit , tour ready". Well that his jusgement. It id no what the medical reports say. Again her TWO ankle operations, one for arthrosis in 01 and two torn ligaments in 02 were succesful in allowing her a normal human walking ability. But not necessarilly for a normal tennis pro life, such as 5 hrs a day of practice and weekly tournaments. Dr Buehlmann, her surgeon, was actually blatant about it : "if she practices for more than two hours you' ll see her cringing her face because although her ligaments are repaired the stress of practice will produce inflammation and severe pain will ensue." Again you call him at the clinic and verify this for yourself.
Also, do you really think that someone like Hingis, a natural genius for tennis and who knows nothing of anything else, wouldn't be playing pro at her age if she wasn't physically impeded? Of course, she would. Besides she wouldn't have to bother wih ITF's. Any major tournament would gladly give her WC's.

Though I still dont get why it's so hard for you to understand why Dokic still has supporters. This was a player who used to be in the top five, has stood in the winners circle at tier 1 level torunament, has made GS semifinals, and has wins over virtually every top player. Now, she's ranked sub-300 and struggling in challengers, but she's still out there trying her best. Once you're a fan of a player, if you're a true fan, you'll stick with that player through good times and bad.

I'm not saying she wasn't injured.
btw. she got WC once this year and she played last week quite a few matches with pro players. So she can play back to back matches. I wonder by your logic how many matches then she can play before she will be in danger.

Ok, there no point to hijack this tread. All I wanted to say is that I doubt her decission not to play big tennis is related only to her physical condition. She could as well ask GS WC and play only 7 matches in a year but she have not so far.

I didn't say you said she wasn't injured, btw. About how many matches in a row she ca play ,I wasn't using "my logic" but medical science, in particular the statements made by her surgeon, Dr Buehlmann of Zurich. Now if you have a problem with scientific results, that's another issue. I say this bacause somehow you appear reluctant to trust medical judgement.
Finally, Martina herself has stated several times when asked that "barring a miracle from medical science she'd not be able to return as a pro". So according to herself her decision is "related only to her medical condition"
Bt the way at the WTT, they only play a few games per match.
