View Full Version : Worst Reaction to Winning a Major

what's your least favorable reaction of someone winning a major? whether they were too 'in your face', didn't get excited enough, what kinda ruins it for you?

I think it's not very favorable reaction when someone's favorite gets beaten and they have to watch the other player being all happy. But other than that, who isn't excited to win a major?!

Concerning Nastya...she´s even too polite and too nice to celebrate a slam;)

Next time, when she´s not playing one of her friends in the finals (wohever that might be...can only think of one person), she will probably do all the jumping and screaming and crying and whatever;)

why they have a sue barker interview instead of a speech, i'll never know. it sucks. yes, and who is to say venus wasn't getting to aknowledging lindsay?

You kinda answered your own 'questioning' there. Her sister was injured, to celebrate and dance around with the Wimbledon trophy would be slapping her injured sister in the face. Serena's never really emoted after beating her sister, that is 100% understandable.

i was hoping someone would slap Anastasia Myskina at last year's RG finals....even her Champion Photocall pics weren't impressive....that might ber her Iva Majoli moment right there in RG 2004 and she didn't look too happy. That's just my impression.

Venus also, had this look of "ok I won Wimbledon again" in 2001. It might be due to that bagel 3rd set of Henin but, if I won a 2nd wimbledon...I'd be jumping up and down. She ofcourse, redeemed herself this year :)

In fairness to Svetlana I think a lot of Russians were affected that week by the school shootings in Beslan. I'm not a huge fan of Myskina, but I can understand her reaction.

I mean, one of her best friends completely choked on the biggest occasion of her life, and was quite visibly upset over it. A huge celebration would've just been rubbing it in. I think she did the right thing.

I think Nastya's reaction - to run over and hug Elena, and whisper that it was only a game - was pretty incredible. Shows how much compassion she had for her friend. That's not "showing no emotions" - it actually shows that she's a great person as well as a great player.

Fortunately she's a different woman these days :worship:.Actually, Venus said they were not dancing. They were simply jumping up and down together. I have it on tape. I thought that they were dancing too, but it's obvious that they were not. Regardless of that, I do believe that Richard probably should have just stayed in the stands. LD was still on the court, and I kinda saw it like a violation of an unwritten rule(a la Hingis walking over to Steffi's side of the court to call a shot).

Actually showing politeness, humaneness and an incredible sense of friendship are just not appropriate these days and yet those things are possibly the only factors which still keeps this world running at least a bit.

95 % of my posts are without insults.
4 % of my posts are with "Dumbo" or "Superdumbo".
0.9 % of my post are with "retarded" or "retardo".
0.1 % or less are with "asshole". In those cases it is highly deserved. And the posters I call like that know EXACTLY why.

In this case the poster knew why Graf was so emotional after her USO 95 final win that she ran to her family first before she went to the net to shake hands with Seles.
