Up until last Saturday, my favorite reaction to winning a slam was when Jen won the 2001 Aussie Open. Now it is my co-favorite with Vee's reaction after winning Wimbly this year--- what a great, great reaction!!!

Your faves..................... :wavey:

My fave was when Jana Novotna finally won Wimbledon after so many tries. It was the title she wanted most - there was so much emotion after winning it and it was a really deserved title.

Best celebration was no doubt from Thomas Johansson when he won AO 2002...

Did you mean 1995? All the pressure was on Steffi..had she lost that final soooooooooooooooo many questions would have been asked if her career was indeed "legitimate" with the absence of Seles.

I loved it when Serena won the US Open in 1999. She didn't know whether to laugh, cry or scream, so she did it all!

I like Jennifer's reaction during the 2002 Aussie Open. When she sent the match to a third set, she looked at her dad and gave this windmill fist pump, and I was like :yippee: :yippee: I was so pumped for her - and she was too! When I saw her do that, I almost jumped up through the ceiling I was so fired up. I wanted her to pound Hingis into the ground!

Venus winning Wimbledon this year was classic. The way she couldn't keep still was so awesome! She was so excited, and it really showed.

LOL

Oh really now?

Graf won THE GRAND SLAM, and was a match away from winning two, she didn't need a win over Monica to validate or legitimize anything!

To Answer the thread.

89 Us Open Final
99 French Final
00 Wimby final
99 Us Open Final
05 Wimby Final but for Venus' initial reaction not the jumping giggly part although that was nice too

venus' reaction was great... but it was a little long, so that cant top the list for me

two the stick out in my mind are two matches before finals... serena this year at the aussie open, and elena last year at the us open in the quarters against mauresmo...

lena had to go through so much to win that... and then to se her collapse to her knees and just raise her hand in victory was priceless

my top 5:

1. 2001 Australian Open: Jennifer Capriati
Even though I was depressed that Hingis got through the Williams and then come up flat in the finals, just thinking of the hell Jennifer had gone through those 11 years before her first Major was really something special and sent chills down my spine.

2. 1998 Wimbledon: Jana Novotna
Painful 2 losses before this win especially that infamous forehand volley miss against Steffi Graf in 1993 and the image of her crying on the Duchess's shoulder AND considering she was almost 30, this win was very sweet and she treated that trophy like a baby!

3. 2005 Wimbledon: Venus Williams
NOW THIS was a celebration if there ever was one. I've never seen ANY ONE who looked like they won the Power Bowl lottery in winning a slam. This was just sheer and genuine elation! Even though I wasn't a fan before (certainly when Hingis was around), this Venus Williams was very special for everyone especially the drought that she went through.

4. 1997 Wimbledon: Martina Hingis
The youngest Wimbledon winner in the Open Era, her reaction was that of a 16 year old (even though she didn't play like one). Who would have predicted that she would only win only 3 more majors after this historic win.

5. 2003 US Open: Justine Henin-Hardenne
This win, especially considering the titanic historic battle with Jennifer Capriati the same day, slapped those who believed she would only be a clay court specialist. After hitting that forehand into the open court on match point, she raised her hands as if to say, "I've done it!"

I have always liked Justine's celebrations.

For the men I also really liked Gaudio's as well since he really acknowledged and thanked the fans who definitely helped lift him to victory.

I'm biased, of course, but I would say...

Lindsay winning her first GS singles in 98 and

Lindsay winning her second GS singles in 99.

She really rarely shows much on court and to see those two wins really touched me :)
