Both great ladies would be wise not to attempt a comeback, especially Monica. Neither will be able to play at their near best, having been away for so long and considering their ages. Why risk more serious injury for very limited possibilities? Both have made a lot of money and, hopefully, have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. It is time for both to move on, as I think Lindsay will after this season is over.

They're of age and allowed. They can do what they will.

As far as Monica is concerned, I don't really know what she is doing these days and if she's planning on returning. If she is, then that's good. All credit to her if she makes it.

Now, as far as Jennifer is concerned: She is far from being over. She will come back, hopefully this hardcourt season and she has proved it last year that she still belongs at the top. I'm actually excited about seeing her on the tour again. It may take her some time to reach her top level, but she can do it and I'm confident ;)

Jennifer is still a top 10 player.

seles has been out for way to long, even if she attempts a comeback i dont think che can make back into the top 10, top 15 will be really tough for her as well imo. capriati still has a shot at it but as far as winning a slam or more slams it will be tough for her imo. dont mind if either of them prove me wrong though.

My two favorite players...so sad.

While I'd love to see Monica come back, it's probably for the best that she retire. It's just been tooooo long by now to expect her to be at a competitive level. She seems to be in the best shape she's been in since the early 90's, which is encouraging. But she is not physically gifted enough to overcome a high degree of rustiness. It wouldn't do her justice to have her come back and be ranked in the 50's. If she played long enough, she'd get back into good form (top 10-15, probably, based on how she was before she injured herself), but it appears that any comeback she'd make would be for less than one year.

On the other hand, Jen can and probably will play through her mid-30's. Remember, she missed years in the mid-90's, and many commentators have said that her career will be extended past the norm because of that. The amount of time off for her is perfect...long enough that she won't be burnt out, but not so long so she will be extremely rusty. Plus, she's a very strong and gifted athlete compared to most, so that'll help. Her problem is that she doesn't appear to enjoy playing anything but slams anymore....her comeback won't work if that's still the case. Jen should settle back into the top 10....and I think she'll win one more slam before she retires...most will disagree but her form at the slams in recent years has been awesome.
