Hi, guys and gals...
I wondered, if there has ever been a GS final which has not been played due to injury of one of the players. I remember that Chris Evert could not play her semis of the US Open (I think) in 1988 against Steffi because of a flu. She said that she felt like her body just went through a war. So, which were the latest stages for each slam were a player withdrew or did not even enter the court.

If you look here, that is a list of all finalists of a grand slam

Aussie Open 1966 is the last one to default at the FINAL stage, but anything before that dont know. Interesting that in '65 Smith Courth won again by defaulting too, then way back to 1933 for the next

The closest it has came was in Wimbledon 2003 when they were not sure whether Venus would play against Serena in the final.

It must really be a bad bad thing to go so deep in a slam and then be forced out.
