Will she be able to carry over her Wimby form to clay? Will Nastya and Lena D challenge her? It will be interesting... :) This is probably not the same as a real tournament, but I hope they all play their best. :)
How well do you think Venus will play in Fed Cup?cellophane Jul 7th, 2005, 02:52 AM Will she be able to carry over her Wimby form to clay? Will Nastya and Lena D challenge her? It will be interesting... :) This is probably not the same as a real tournament, but I hope they all play their best. :) vw. Jul 7th, 2005, 03:46 AM I think she'll win both matches, she'll convincingly beat Myskina, and will get tested by Dementieva. Knizzle Jul 7th, 2005, 03:47 AM I have no idea, I'm hoping that she retains confidence and can win against them on clay. It's more exciting waiting to see what Venus will do. AjdeNate! Jul 7th, 2005, 03:50 AM Bagels served by the Wimbledon Champion all over the place. selyoink Jul 7th, 2005, 03:56 AM I am really interested to see how she plays. Will she carry the Wimbledon momentum into fed cup or play more like she has the rest of the season being very inconsistent? Or will she just be exhausted? I am also very interested to see how Myskina plays. Like at Wimbledon or rest of the year. The play of Venus and Anastasia will both be important wild cards in my opinion. CJ07 Jul 7th, 2005, 03:58 AM if Venus is feeling OK physically and isn't mentally drained, then she should be fine. those are the bigger questions i think cellophane Jul 7th, 2005, 04:01 AM Bagels served by the Wimbledon Champion all over the place. http://www.novosibhleb.ru/images/bar_02.jpg Volcana Jul 7th, 2005, 04:08 AM What's the surface? Carpet could be a problem. cellophane Jul 7th, 2005, 04:15 AM What's the surface? Carpet could be a problem. Red clay. CJ07 Jul 7th, 2005, 04:20 AM they should have goen with Carpet go hingis Jul 7th, 2005, 04:20 AM I think she will be fired up and ready to go. LucasArg Jul 7th, 2005, 06:14 AM Even on clay, Venus will win both singles matches. Go Vee! :wavey: IMO Russia didn't put their best players, at the moment Myskina and Dementieva are far away from their best. Why not Kuznetsova, Petrova? _LuCaS_ Jul 7th, 2005, 08:09 AM Well but not well enough ;) I hope Munchen Jul 7th, 2005, 08:20 AM I really hope she does carry her form through from Wimbledon :) Surely she must be feeling confident? ;) I don't think Venus will fuss herself too much over Fed Cup in Russia. :) Spunky83 Jul 7th, 2005, 08:50 AM 1 win, 1 loss Lady Jul 7th, 2005, 09:37 AM IMO Russia didn't put their best players, at the moment Myskina and Dementieva are far away from their best. Why not Kuznetsova, Petrova? They're injured! The didn't pick carpet because they thought Davenport will play! :p jonny84 Jul 7th, 2005, 11:24 AM Hopefully Venus will be okay - it will be difficult changing from grass to clay and there will be more expectations for her to win now that she is the "reigning Wimbledon champion". It depends how tired and fatigued she is from the events of the weekend too. V-MAC Jul 7th, 2005, 01:08 PM even if Vee loses these matches, it doesn't mean anything as I'm sure she must be somewhat drained after Wimbledon and needs a nice break :) goldenlox Jul 7th, 2005, 05:24 PM even if Vee loses these matches, it doesn't mean anything as I'm sure she must be somewhat drained after Wimbledon and needs a nice break :)I'm hoping Venus isn't as focused as she was last week. But you never know. rue Jul 7th, 2005, 07:02 PM I am not so sure cos she is going to be playing on clay which is her worst surface. She is coming up against some really tough opponents. She has enough confidence, but i am not sure if that will be enough for her to carry the whole team to victory. Rocketta Jul 7th, 2005, 07:11 PM hmmm, it's an interesting question....one good thing is she is there with Zina and Billy and if nothing else they will get her into the net. :yeah: CJ07 Jul 7th, 2005, 07:14 PM I am not so sure cos she is going to be playing on clay which is her worst surface. Venus has the best clay court record of active players behind Justine. It is not her worst surface; I don't know why people keep saying that. Knizzle Jul 7th, 2005, 08:21 PM Venus has the best clay court record of active players behind Justine. It is not her worst surface; I don't know why people keep saying that. Well it is her worst MAJOR surface if you consider Rebound Ace as being hardcourt, but people just look at her results a RG without looking at the other titles she's won on clay. Knizzle Jul 7th, 2005, 08:22 PM even if Vee loses these matches, it doesn't mean anything as I'm sure she must be somewhat drained after Wimbledon and needs a nice break :) Will it mean nothing if she wins?? Knizzle Jul 7th, 2005, 08:23 PM BTW Venus hates to return the second serves of both Myskina and Dementieva. Let's hope she gets it in her mind to move forward to the returns. | |
