The current top six are locks. The other two spots are in question.

One knowing, where I can find the whole ranking (or at least top250 or top300) with 2005 points? wtatour.com only has Top100

Top 6 + Serena (if she plays this summer & is healthy) & Pierce...possibly Kuznetsova

If Serena doesn't finish inside the TOP8, will she qualify for being a GS winner inside the TOP20, like ATP does?

I think she'll end the season inside the TOP8, but you never know with all her injuries and lack of playing.

I would assume they would give Serena automatic entry into it with a WC, considering she is a GS winner this year.

Look at this guys....The Top 8 singles players and Top 4 doubles teams in the Porsche Race to the Championships qualify by virtue of strong performances in the regular Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season; points are accrued in all 60 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour events, which are tallied to produce the Porsche Race to the Championships standings.
Seems there is not a wildcard for grand slam winners:silly: :cuckoo:

Actually, there is a rule somewhere in there that they can allow special entries. Anyone go the full rules?

Take out Petrova and Schnyder and replace them with Pierce and Serena and we'll have the best field ever.

There are no special entries at the WTA Champs. The points are the points...

I know Sveta hasn't won sh*t yet this season, but in a perfect world, I'd place Serena & Sveta in the last to spots. That would make up YEC's best field ever IMHO. :)

There is a small paragraph in the WTA Rules which says that the WTA can give out a WC to the YEC if they want to.

Yeah, the rule is there, but they won't do it.

I bet you anything they would if it
was Serena, especially with her being
a Slam winner this year.

When's the last time a Slam winner in that particular year hasn't
made it to the year ending championships outside of injury?

I don't see Pierce making it. If Serena is healthy for summer season she should. With Petrova's consistency at the slams this year she has a great chance. Lena D. and Sveta with good summers could also sneak in I think. Schnyder will have trouble making it.

WTF is Petrova doing in there? She hasn't done anything outstanding this season... I guess consistency does pay off.

Kim and Serena are gonna make it, Delete Schnyder and Petrova.

Between Mary and Svetlana their is a 278 point gap and Svetlana hasn't been playing her best this season. Serena is 9, but is she fit enough to play enough tournaments to make it? The last two spots are gonna be well fought for and Mary has said before she retires she wants to play one more masters! Go Mary !!!!!!!!!!

Dementieva / Serena / Pierce have the best chance.

Although Kuznetsova might fire up over the U.S Summer  :bounce:

Why not schnyder. She wilol play alot and maybe she upsets somebody like she does on clay. It will be very tough. I'd wish the Year end tournie would held somewhere in europe. Just to have a better coverage

I got a question concerning the points in the ranking:

http://www.wtatour.com/rankings/porsche/singles.asp
This one is the Porsche Ranking with only points gained in 2005. Ana Ivanovic is listed 14 there with 1139 points.

http://www.wtatour.com/players/playerprofiles/PlayerActivity.asp?PlayerID=311710
Here's her activity, but the result of all the points listed there is only 1122.

Can someone tell me, why it's not the same? All the girls who are better in the ranking than her have the same amount as in their profiles  .

But Douchevina, Peng, Karatantcheva and Chakvetadze show also differences, I can't see why.

Not all of those will be healthy by the end of the year.

Patty will make it. I dont see why not she has been making it to the quarters or better in most of her tournaments this year. (excluding Wimby ;))

Serena is an awesome player and if she isn't fit enough to collate the necessary points then she won't be fit enough to play anyway. I hope Serena gets in fair and square otherwise it would be horrible for whoever was rightfully in eighth place.

Or is it just a mistake of the website? But I'can hardly imagine
