has been announced

she will play:

Beijing ( she got to the SF last year )
Filderstadt ( First time )
Moscow ( first time :bounce: )
Philadelphia ( got to the SF last year )

and of course

WTA Masters ( won last year )

Maria won't be playing in Seoul and Tokyo this year but they were only tier 3 tournaments and Filderstadt and Moscow will bring her a lot more points !!

Good luck Maria !!

She's got a lot of points to defend for Zurich, but I guess Moscow's probably more important to her than Zurich.

Ah... Good luck Maria :)
Think she'll be appreciated as a Russian in Moscow? Or will they consider her American...
However that's a very interesting set of choices... I am surprised she won't defend Seoul and Tokyo, she is the champ.... Do you think when the time comes she'll have to worry about getting enough points to make the YEC?

Maria already made the YEC, she doesn't have to worry about that, and Seoul and Tokyo are only Tier 3 touraments, defending them won't do her any good. She will get more points playing bigger tournaments :)

Its a pretty good schedule she has a good mix of tier 1 and 2 and gives herself plenty of rest

seoul is a Tier 4. She only went there last year as a special promotion.

Tokyo is Tier 3 but conflicts with Moscow.
