I do agree that there is more higher quality players today, but one can only win against the competition that exists at that time. I do agree, therefore, today^s players will be unable to win as many slams as the previous generations. I also think that if a Court or Navratilova, King, etc. had the equipment and training today^s players have they could compete with the best of today^s players. Perhaps we should not compare players before 1990(?) with those of today. Maria Bueno won 7 slams in singles and various others in doubles. She had a more beautiful and lethal game than Evonne, whom I also loved. I would also say that Serena and Venus Williams, at their best, are certainly two of the greatest players of any era.
