After losing an epic Grand Slam final, I was trying to think of a player like Lindsay who fought to the end of an important final match, and I could only think of a handful.

Including Lindsay's performance this past weekend, here is my list of some great Grand Slam finalists of the Open era.

Martina Navratilova: 1981 & 1985 U.S. Open, 1985 and 1987 French Open and 1994 Wimbledon.

Billie Jean King: 1970 Wimbledon.

Aranxta Sanchez-Vicario: 1995 Wimbledon and 1996 French Open.

Chris Evert: 1978 Wimbledon, 1981 Australian and 1984 U.S. Open

Gabriela Sabatini: 1991 Wimbledon

Evonne Goolagong: 1976 Wimbledon

Steffi Graf: 1989 and 1992 French Open.

There are tons more I am sure, just add yours to the list.

Jana Novotna Wimby 1993 for sure - the most legendary final to be ever played..... Also the one in 1997 was great, because it was one of the best matches ever....

AO 2002 was so sad for Martina. I love Jen, but I wish Martina would've closed that one out.
