Since we're talking about women's serve motions why not talk about our own motions? ;)
I'll write later, cuz I'm in a hurry ;)
Cheers :D

Mine begins like Henin-Hardenne's and ends like Pierce's

Perhaps like Kuznetsova's overall but I have a full swing rather than a simplified one.

To be honest, mine has a bit of Venus's in it.. meaning its not the best technique :tape:
but also, theres a bit of Serena and Justine too.... My start is like Venus, my contact point is like Serena, and my follow through is like Justine..

Honestly I have a horrible serve. Until the other day, I throw the ball to the other side of me and swing, causing lots of faults. i don't double fault a lot though because I literally FLOAT my 2nd serve over and hope I can handle when someone tries to hit a winner off it.

Sometimes I have streaks where I have a rhythm and can even ace my opponents with my shitty service motion.

The other day I realized my fatal flaw (well someone who was watching my match did) and told me to throw the ball more towards me and aim with my racket and after that I actually hit a few aces, one was a 2nd serve ace. So I've been tinkering with that service motion. By the way, I'm mostly a fighter when I play tennis. I have a horrible serve...a great forehand, a shaky but acceptable one handed backhand, (when on, I've recently switched from a stable-to-good two handed backhand) good volleys and a pretty decent drop shot. The one match where I served at like 35% first serves I still won 6-2, 6-2. But I guess that's because I was playing someone who just fed my forehand ALL THE TIME.

I'm not very good, but I copy Pat Rafter's serve.

At 6'3 I must have the worse serve in the world, I judt put it in the air and hit it. Have an awful motion, if it goes in all good:)

I have a combination of Conchita Martinez and Elena Dementieva's serves... :haha:

My motion has changed several times. Most recently it resembles Elena Likhotseva's. How her tossing arm and body move in one solid quick motion. It's easier to have a consistent ball toss, at least for me anyway.

Mine looks a lot like Davenport's serve, my first serve that is. If i miss the first, I'm too shitty to hit a double fault, so I just stand still and hit a soft overhead wich results in a second serve where the ball just falls behind the net. But there's one advantage: in the beginning of the match I tend to hit a few aces with my second, because the persons who I play against don't expect it to be THAT soft ;)

i burst out laughing when i read "you nearly broke you back"!"". lol

i have a Serve like Venus' and it is really effective. I sreve like Venus early in the game, but then like Serena later in the game because it is more relialbe anc can produce aces and good placed serves, however i love the power i get when i serve like Venus...and because i have the same forehand style and the open stance backhand just like Venus, serving like her helps in that way as well.

i have tried serving like Lindsay a couple of times and it can be effective but it is few and far between.

well she drops her head and her left shoulder and ends up almost at a right angle side ways to the left :scared::) then swings with her right arm.
i thought for fun id try it and never again :) i have to be more upright on the point of contact, i'm not all that flexible anymore ;)

My service motion is almost 100% like Venus'. It works pretty well I think. Though on the second serve... :o

I have a really weird serve.

On my 1st serve I stand near the tramlines like

___|______+__| *The + is where I stand ;)*

On my 2nd I stand in normal position.

I think my serve is like Julia Vakulenko since it's basically all arm with not much body going into it. I get about 30% 1st serve in and not with a lot of pace. My 2nd is just hoping it's goes in. I serve about 1-3 Ace(s) & 5-15 DF's a match.

This is what happens when you self-learn and have no proper teaching on your serve :p :o

Mine is maybe like Serena/Hingis- they have similar motions, anyways. When I want to surprise my opponent, I pimp out the Dementieva toss.

Mine looks like Rafi Nadal's serve,my mixed doubles partner has mix of Justine and Likhovtseva serve, only 1m.65cm,has a super serve, mixing up very well, sometimes aces me with nearly 150km serve but with lot of spin and just hitting line and going away from u,than coming up with nearly 180km bang serve to down the "t",u cant find rhytm, with these serves and clever play her,bit of power play and net plays from me,we are very very good team at mixed doubles events ;)

Mix of Lindzīs, J-Capīs, Momoīs and Andy Roddickīs serve (although the resultīs more like Dementievaīs)...so no real full swing and I never toss the ball high up. Seriously, if I had such a high ball toss such as Maria has or Steffi Graf used to have, I would toss the ball anywhere but near me  and thanks to my super height (5'4 -1.63 m) I need to coordinate my jumping and hitting very precisely.

Love my first serve but absolutely hate the second one (with a first serve percentage at about 35 %, itīs often a torture;))

You know, itīs my fave shot IF the first serve goes in cause it gives me a lot of free points... But I can certainly tell you that trying to learn serving can freak you out big time! But if youīre up for the challenge, itīs also fun;) :wavey:

When changing your serve it can take a long time.
It's taken me 9 months to get it quite good but it can still improve...

That is sooo true...you know you can easily hit the shuttlecock in badminton, you can easily kick a ball in soccer, you can play darts and you hit the board, but tennis definetly is a hard sport to learn...you need to exactly figure out how the ball bounces (esp. on clay) cause if you hit the ball wrong, youīre basically dead. And you need a lot of concentration, for me thatīs the hardest part in tennis. You really need to feel the ball and cleary see it coming...and then thereīs the footwork and...and...so on and so on;)

I guess patience is the key to tennis...although...who am I kidding? My kids racket looks sooo deformed from my constant throwing, my parents didnīt want to buy a new one cause they knew I would keep throwing it anyway

i dont know. my serve is crazy. once in a while i can hit a really good hrd serve into the body of my opponent. but 92% of the time i hit a kapros like serve. as in my 1st serve is about as fast as her 2nd serve. on my 2nd serve, well, lets put it this way, my opponent stand maybe 7-8 inches behind the service line. :tape:

badminton SUCKS ROTFLMFAO. i try to play tennis on a badminton court and i miss the shuttlecock all the time :o i swing too quickly. i never understood why i was ok at one and sucked at the other. then i learnt in PE there's such a thing as a negative transfer, where experiences in one sport hinder your development in another. i decided to stick to tennis :D

i pretty much have a new service motion every time that i play... it went from being taught with a serena like motion, to me shortening it up like elena d... then i decided to curve the racquet on the way up, a la hantuchova or sprem, and that worked for a while... but i found my best service motion in one that mirrors mary pierce... i envy how calm she gets, how slow and delibrate her ball bouncing and breathing is, and then BOOM 108mph down the middle, out of nowhere...

i always go for a big first serve, and i can probably hit 100mph if i get it in, but i just hit in the second serve to start the point, and it can be really slow... but i know that my groundstrokes and movement is typically superior to most of the people that i play, and definatly out of all of my friends... usually i just use my forehand to win points

I keep my arm very loose throughout... extend way up in the air and cut around the ball... but dont get enough JUMP off the ground which I'm working on.

A mix of Barbara Schett and Sandrine Testud serves (yeah, I know... I'm old school;))

Hmmm... mine is a pretty simple classic service motion, somewhat like Federer's. I've recently added lots of power to my serve and even hit a 114 mph ace! My second serve has a lot of kick but not much pace but can not easily be attacked!

My first serve is like Venus's with a mixture of pete you know the look. because I can hit up the tie easliy but then when I wan to slice it's like Serena on my second serve. I always win in 3 sets though it's tough

Yeah, in badminton, a lot of strength comse from the wrist, so itīs really different. As I donīt play on a competetive basis, I donīt really have a problem with playing both sports but I know that a friend of mine whoīs the most important player in her club isnīt allowed to play badminton.

Funny thing is that I tend to love playing badminton a bit more cause I am way better in badminton than in tennis and oddly, I play better tennis indoors rather than outdoors...maybe that has also something to do with badminton;)...although I guess itīs just a matter of surface concerning that problem.

mines a bit like davenport's... the backswing comes sorta in front of my face like lindsay does... the knee bend is a bit like sharapova's. hard to explain, maybe u should just see me. and also i finish with my left arm tucked in like daniela hantuchova's.... habit

I use to serve very similar to Serena Williams :hearts: Very similar indeed.. It was great! :D

Also similar technique to Pierce at times. :)

Now .. I can't serve at all!! :tape:

Well.... my serve LOOKS like Federer's. It's a shame its not as effective though :p

Very inconsistent serve... sometimes I'll run hot and I'll go for a set where my opponent can't do anything, and other times I'd even settle with having Dementieva's serve from the last years French Open final.

My serve begins like Sharapova's and ends like Justine's..:p Not my pick if I could choose, but it's quite effective;) And my second serve is a slice quite similar to Dementieva's, but with more power. I'm trying to learn the top spin serve:D

To be honestly with you, I never bounce the ball before throwing it up in the air like Tatiana Panova or Thomas Enqvist but my serve motion is more likely Jennifer Capriati! I mean, I pick the ball up so quickly and throw it up in the air then hit it straight away like rush!

My serve is not too bad but it's not my best or worst of all shots :)

Mine is a really short, basic motion. dont know ifits comparable to any pro's.

i usually just hit it mid-paced and flat. for variety i sometimes put varying amounts of slice but i find when i slice it too much it can be slow unless i can get it to skid and pull the person wide enuf.i am not good with topspin tho, only slice....

so maybe a bit like conchita or dementieva but i dont really pay attention to how they serve..

I don't have a real serve yet. I started playing tennis eight months ago but it's the most difficult shot to learn IMO. I don't like the whole service motion thingy where you have to toss the ball and swing your racket back at the same time. My main problem is in the toss I think because I do apply the right technique according to my trainer but I can't find the ball most of the time when my racket arrives at contact point since I throw my toss out of my reach a lot of times :tape:.
