Before picking, you must remember:-

The players picked MUST BE CURRENTLY PLAYING in the WTA (including Slams). That means no Seles, Graf etc.
Ranking does not matter - it can be #1 or #100.
My pick would be:-

Hard (Australian Open [Rebound Ace] and US Open type surface) - Serena Williams
Clay (French Open type surface) - Justine Henin-Hardenne
Grass (Wimbledon type surface) - Venus Williams
Indoor (Carpet type surface) - Maria Sharapova

i disagree with your indoor pick. Kim is much more formidable opponent indoors than Anastasia. 2 WTA championships indoors compared to 2 Moscows make kim the better indoor player.

Depends on the perspective...however you should argue Sharapova or Davenport as options to indoor, not Anastasia.

I guess that last years it was Myskina / Dementieva

Grass: Only Venus Williams Stands out..her record on grass speaks for itself

only Venus? and that's why Serena beat her twice in finals.

Hardcourt: Venus, Serena, Davenport and Clijsters

funny, Clijsters in but Kuznetsova and Justine have won the US Open.
Venus above Serena?

Indoor: Anastacia Myskina

:silly:

only Myskina, she won two Moscow and one Leipzig title.

Kim won the YEC twice, along with Filderstadt twice and Leipzig twice.
Sharapova, Serena, Davenport have all won the YEC.

Davenport has multiple wins in Filderstadt and Zurich.

Really :silly:

Why don´t you guys just stick to the facts and actually just take a look into the tourney winners list and compare those...I mean not that I wanna do it myself but well, there´s not need to discuss who´s better on what if some of you just ignore the wins and losses of players.

The question ask for "current", so IMO I fell that...

Hard Courts
1) Kim
2) Lindsay
3) Maria

Clay
1) Justine
2) Kim (she's much better than Lindsay here, even if she did lose that match)
3) Amelie (she may choke at the FO, but she's still VERY strong on this surface)

Grass
1) Venus (yes she loses to Rena, BUT I beleive that's mainly because Rena wants to beat Vee, much more than she (Vee) wants to beat her.
2) Maria / Serena (on the account that she's healthy)
3) Lindsay

Carpet
1) Kim
2) Serena (yeah she lost the YEC last year, but after seeing the way she played against Kim in 02, and then seeing the way she played in the Final in 04, I KNOW she can play better than that (YEC 04).
3) Maria

Yeah, but she defended her Wimbledon title - Do you know how hard it is to defend a slam? Serena 2002, 2003 Wimbledon Champion, 2004 Finalist. When Davenport makes the same slam final 3 years in row, we'll talk. so she lost early this year, but that does not take away from the fact she made Wimbledon finals 3 years straight and won 2 of them.:D No other singles player except for Venus has managed to accomplish this, Venus made Wimbledon Finals 4 years straight and been in the finals 5 times out of the last 6 wimbledon, won 3.

So Queen of grass Venus Williams, followed by Serena Williams!!
