Either Kim, Maria or Venus. Hard to pick one, there are many favorites.

All players listed have the ability to win the US Open IMO.

I have no idea who will!

I said after kim's comeback that I thought she would win a grandslam this year,

so last chance for kim!

Well, logically Venus will win. The two times she's won Wimbledon, she's also won US Open.

But I have a feeling Maria will want revenge.

Justine, or Kim. Of course every other player in that list can win it too, except Myskina, but I'm hoping for an all-belgian final, :p .

The logic says Justine will win. In the year when she won RG, she also won US open. So why not this history repeats? ;)

I think each slam has added a player or two to the list of potential winners this year. The US, so far, seems to be even more open!

And I also wonder how Venus winning Wimbledon will effect Serena? I get the feeling we may see her a bit hungrier again as I'm sure she'll want to stay ahead of Venus!

Serena, Venus, Justine, Lindsay, Kim, Maria and even Sveta all have a legitimate chance to win. With hopefully everyone being healthy, this Slam should be even less predictable than this year's Wimbledon!

But out of that list, my favourites for the title would be Venus and Serena, followed by Lindsay and Justine.

nothing stuns serena into action like an early loss. She will be raring to go and has plenty of time to get into form.

It's wide open this year IMO. I mean there have been different slam winners from RG 2004 so this trend could continue. I voted for Lindsay, though I'm not a fan of her I would like it very much for her to win the US Open for sentimental reasons.

I think it's pretty open as well. If I had to put money on it right now, I'd probably go for Lindsay, but I think Serena/Venus/Justine/Sveta/Maria all have very good chances.

Justine will make it, if she won't fail in 1st two rounds

else one of the Williams sisters

a mention of Nasty and not Dementieva?

Anyway, I think Clijsters, either Williams sister, and Davenport have the best chances to win

Sorry to be the Bearer of Bad news and Reality. But with all the TOP Hard Courters back in Shape...Venus, Lindz and Hopefully Serena and Jennifer Justine has no chance of getting there between 2 or 3 matches in a row. She can take out one of them, but it will be difficult for her on this surface as it was on grass.

Althought Justine won the French, I think it was more of her Guts and Determnation that took her there. The surface gave her time to pace herself and set up her balls for attack. That wont happen on grass or hardcourt. Her Tennis was B+ Standard and it was good enough. She has a shot in NYC but winning on a HARDCOURT with HARDCOURTERS HEALTHY? Not to mention Petrova's game will pick up, Kuzzy's game will pick up... Perhaps Maria American Style game will pick up. I dont see Justine getting past the quarters.

Possible though. Shit...Mashona winning is possible

Yes, she also had no chance of winning hard court tournies in 2003, we know it. She had no chance with Kim, Lindsay, Jennifer and others even then.
We, Justine fans, love to live in denial. :)

Lindsay of 2003 is not anywhere NEAR Lindsay 2005. Come on you got to know this. Kim can tell you This. LMAO!

Jennifer of 2003 simply CHOKED and there was Justine's Killer Instinct of guts and determination that got her through. We found out in 2003 that Kim wasn't a Big Match Player....so with No Fit Lindsay, Venus or Serena in her Path...She was the Obvious Choice. Don't be delusional. Justine is good, I admire her fight and competitive nature. But Take Healthy Hard Courters, She can't Beat Petrova on Hardcourt, She cant Beat Maria on Hard Court, She cant beat a HEALTHY Lindsay On Hardcourt, Cant beat Venus on Hardcourt and Can't beat a Healthy Serena on hardcourt. So She would have to have a FAVORABLE DRAW to get a shot at this title. And some UPSETS along the way.
Like I say, it's POSSIBLE. Not counting her out, but not sure she's in either.

Definitely too hard to say... Even if someone absolutely tears up on the US hardcourt season, there's another player there who could - on their day - take them out.

Lindsay was healthy at AO 2004, and she was playing great tennis in IW 2004. Watch this match. :wavey:
take a look at her H2H with Petrova before even mentioning her.
And she played Maria on hard courts in her 1st tourny back and her scoreline is respectable. :)

I'll give you Venus and Serena records against her on hard courts.

And if we judge only by past records, then Venus Williams will never beat Maria Sharapova on hardcourts. Agreed? :)

And you're the one telling me not to be delusional, and teaching me what to think of anyone's chances to win tourny?? Since when you're so important?

Sharapova vs. Venus. Based on H2H no, Venus can't beat Sharapova on HardCourt...she has before in a Exhibition, but we don't count those. So at this moment, NO. But Venus is not in question here. You and I a respectably debating about Y you feel Justine will and Y I feel Justine Wont. Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion lets not go into tangents.

However, I have a feeling Venus will and can humble Sharapova on HC's pretty soon, waiting for the day. AO and IW 2004 Lindsay was healthy but her Game Had Not Clicked as of yet. Lindz game Clicked When she and Venus played a marathon tourny in Manhattan Beach in the finals last year(i believe). That tournament sparked the resurgence of Davenport. Any Loss after that was beating Davenport at her Best.

Petrova took Justine out last year right?:tape: Nuff Said.
Person in question here is Jennifer vs. Justine...in a match Jenn shoulda've won but didn't b/c of WILL.

I have no problem with people thinking Justine won't win it. It's your opinion.
But to say Petrova is a better hard-courter then Justine? Do you see how redicilous is that point?
Jill Craybas is a better grass court player then Serena, right? After all, she took her out this year. Your logic, not mine.

in 2005, YES. Jill Crybass was the better GrassCourt Player than Serena. Absolutely Yes. As Petrova was the Better hardcourter in their matchup last year. I guess only time will tell. Notice I dont feel she will win, but she's capable. I just can't see her winning in a draw with More Superior Hard Courters.

Scenario...
Justines Draw
4th Rd- Petrova/Dementieva (she could win-but will Struggle)
QF- Venus Williams or Kim Clijsters (could Win, them on form..Not likely even w/JHH at her best)
SF-Lindz Davenport/Amelie Mauresmo(Mauresmo yes...Lindz2005 NOPE!)
F- Serena Williams/Sharapova (HELL NO!)

The way Justine likes to play she's likely to burn out of she ran into 3 big hitters in a row she needs a FAVORABLE, KIND, CUSHY...GODLY Draw to win.

It would be nice if it was Lindsay.
