It was 1st round,Serena just won 36 76(5) 75

I remember,I watched the match,but I cant remember,did Serena saved match point?
Did Serena play badly or Emilie played better than expected?

It is funny,I remember some points of the match but not general, also I was ill that day, maybe because of that...

Yup I still remember it. :)

No, Serena did not have to save match point. I believe she was at one point 3 points away from losing the match though ;) (in the 2nd set tiebreak).

Serena did play pretty poorly in patches but all credit to Loit because of all her slices and dices that kept Serena off her rhythm.

Loit saved two match points with some awesome shots (one was a drop shot winner)!

Yeah, Loit was playing really well and exposing Serena's weakness to heavy slice on the backhand side. I was surprised with how Emilie never got tentatice or nervous, Serena won that second set tiebreak 7-6(5)!

Another match Serena gutted out with mostly mental strength.

I remember that match quite well.... Emilie played off her nut. Wasn't hitting the ball particularly hard, but was finding the corners consistently on her serve and forehand, and was really giving Serena nightmares with that slice. Emilie also threw in a smart net game, sneaking in behind good shots and volleying competently.

I don't think Serena was at her best, but I wouldn't say she played poorly.

Serena played on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being her best) about a 4 or 5. She didnt play bad.

Emilie was definately pushing herself to her limits and more of a 9 or so. It was a great match of tennis. Emelie is one of the most beautiful players to watch as she has so so much flair and variety of shot which is something we dont see much in today's top players where sheer athleticism and power is now more important than being able to mix things up. What made this match interesting was that Emelie's more old school game was still up to the task in matching the new breed of power babes like Serena, so there's always hope to see more players like her emerge and take it to the top players in the future!

There was no match point for Loit, but she had 2 or 3 MP saves herself that were incredible.

Very entertaining match.

Yes it was all the buzz at my club... how Emelie used that crazy sidespin slice and somehow moved it around the court very well. Not a great match for Serena though.

Serena wasn't at her best, but Loit took it to her. That was a smart move, because Serena usually takes a few rounds to find GS form...the best window of taking her out is in the first few rounds.

This was the match where we all learned that Serena can cuss just like the rest of us.

She had just hit a ball very long and said very loudly.. "What the F*ck what that???"

(Somewhat shocking, but it shows that she is real.)
