yes.

i tunes 4.6,4.7,4.8 were kind of a joke no real updates

but 4.9 lets you get podcasts, and granted there are things like like ipodder, but they are a pain to use.
there are now 3000 pod casts (i have a ton already and most of mine are an hour long or more). and that kind of easy to find free portable audio content is really hard to beat. abcnews, espn are just some of the names that post free content there.

PSR, if you have windows, DO NOT UPGRADE TO 4.9. There is an issue with play counts being screwed up and Apple is now working on a patch for it.

there is a possibility that you can upgrade with no problem but i'm going to wait until they fix it.

some people suggested you save your library's xml file elsewhere on your machine and copy it back over. you can risk it but i wouldn't.

windows suck, the best way to fix that problem is to go get a mac mini.

Yeah I use Windows...and this was my fear....I've read horror stories, about losing playlists, ipods not being recognised etc. Think I'll wait a little while! You know what it's like, everything works fine the moment, don't want to change anything...

I don't understand how an iPod works. Does it come with songs already loaded? If not, how do you load songs?

Hels, no music is on the ipod.

You transfer the music to the ipod from your computer using either a usb or firewire cable through a program called iTunes, which catalogs your music files. Music files are usually .mp3 or .mp4(AAC). Windows media files (.WMA) are not able to be transferred to ipods since it's the competitors', Windows, file format.

Ipods can also be used as portable hard drives for transferring files like videos, pictures, etc. to another computer. They also have games on them, calendar functions, a clock and an alarm.

Overall a neat lil device. :)

Thanks, hon. I'm real bad at a computer, so it doesn't appear an ipod is in my future.
