Does anyone else notice how so often there are really hot people dating really ugly people?

It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm thinking the reason that I can never find a hot guy to date is because I'm too hot? Is that logical? Even if I AM ugly, then according to the rule I should be able to find someone hot to date, no?

What is it? Is it about self confidence?

Yeesh. I just don't get it. It offends my snobbish sense of how the world should work.

You are so shallow! ;)

Have you ever thought that there is a little thing called 'money' involved?

I know I'm shallow. But that doesn't answer the question. :p I think I'm moderately attractive, so I want a moderately attractive guy. I can find SOME, but they're usually whores and that ain't fun.

And I thought about the money thing, but I have a good amount of that myself. Plus, I've seen the cars these "ugly" halves drive and where they live. They aren't all that.

I don't see it out there much, but when it happens the two probably aren't obsessed with looks, even if one may be naturally good looking.

Have you ever thought that what is ugly for you may be beautiful for others? You cannot say that an ugly person shouldnt date a beautiful one....Maybe this "ugly" person is very beautiful inside, something very rare with very beautiful people...

hmm, maybe things are different in your side of the world.

maybe it's the area I live in. gay men here are only out for sex...

maybe they're dating the ugly person to draw more attention to their own beauty when they're seen out on the town.

could be, but doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose?

... i mean, what's the point of attracting people if you can't do 'em?

Hotness has nothing in common with beauty. For example, take a look at Al Paccino. He is fugly but SO HOT, a lot of women would die happy if they only had one night with him. I have a friend who is the carbon copy of Serge Gainsbourg and as Serge he has a lot of beautifull women, they fall in love with him all the time- it's called inteligence and charisma in one person :)

I remember reading somewhere something like that "The beauty lasts tree days in a couple" and it's true. You just don't pay attention to the beauty in the everyday life, you need something more than that.

And there is nobody that can define what is hot and what's not. What might be ugly to you, might very well be beautiful to me. You do come across as shallow by the way if you only care about looks and appearances and can't look further than that.

Everyone is shallow, please. If you can't note the tongue-in-cheek nature of the thread, that isn't my fault.

Add a smiley or two maybe and the tongue-in-cheek might come out better. And if you can't take a serious response, then don't start a thread on this.

All I can say is that Jess Barker and I were both totally hot and we got married. But it didn't last. Floyd wasn't ugly, but he was no Jess Barker.

What about that really hot guy you dated? I forgot his name, he was a B-grade actor.

What about Nelly and Ted?

1) what you find hot and attractive does not mean everyone else finds that hot or attractive

2) Just because you think you are hot and attractive does not mean that everone else thinks you are hot and attractive

Here's a novel concept: love. Every time I see someone I think is attractive with someone I think is Fugly I go oh that must be love, good for them.

That was Jess Barker, hon, the king of B-movies. That is until he fleeced me in the divorce, then it took him 10 years to run through the money he got from me, so he didn't work. I really didn't like actors!

Neely, what can I say, thank God she had talent. Ted is a pretty boy. Granted, at this stage, a 65-year old pretty boy. I don't know what attracted them. Neely was on the rebound from her first husband, Mel. She threw him out after she made it big, the poor man only left with his typewriter because that's all he owned! :o Neely, I think, was attracted to Ted because he was a top Hollywood costume designer, young, gorgeous, and was a millionaire by age 25. She wanted to be around success. Ted just wanted a beard! Hollywood in the 60's wasn't the Hollywood of today.

Well, here it is, 40 years or so since they got married and they're still married, so who am I to judge? Granted, this weekend Neely and I are attending Ted's wedding to his boyfriend in Massachusetts. Neely and Ted are staying married in all the other states. It's going to be a huge reception in Provincetown where Ted bought an estate. Don't tell Neely, but I'm looking forward to it. Ted doesn't hang around ugly people, so it will be all the beautiful people. Plus, I think Barney Frank will be there, and Helen loves power coupled with good looks!

What is it? Is it about self confidence?

Everyone has their definition of 'hot' but I think a lot of people who lack self confidence in their looks figure they've got no chance with hotter people which means they never try their luck !

It's totally having a bit of attitude and self confidence.

Oh and having lots of money helps as well ;).

Actually, Im asking myself pretty much the opposite. Why is each person in evry couple usually exactly as good-looking as the other. Many ppl claim they dont give a shit about ooks so it would be an incredible coincidence that they end up with someone exactly as good-looking as them.

That's exactly right. Most of the time, it's evenly-matched people on looks. Helen has a few fetishes and preferences, though, that if the guy has it, she's willing to overlook all else.
