Hey guys I need a little help from you.

There's a little debate on an italian tennis fanzone web site on a phrase reported on selesworld.com

the phrase is:

"Provided Monica's foot is healed her next event is FCC"

now lots of people over there who don't speak english keep saying that PROVIDED means that the news Monica's foot is healed has been provided to the site.
and so they believe Monica is healed.

I tried to explain them that PROVIDED means "if"
Monica's foot is healed...
but they don't trust me-

please can someone please post here the real meaning of the phrase?

THANKS
GUYS!

hope Monica REALLY heals soon!

As it is used in that phrase, "provided" means "if". (I wish it meant the other option, though.)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS
for your explanation

and many thanks to SELESWORLD.COM for writing the news in that way
so that also my italian friends could understand it.

I do wish too the news was not "IF"
but...
let's hope Moni is going to recover soon!
and that you are going to give that news soon!

thanks AGAIN!

SARA
