she's cute and i like her game...this is my first time seeing her. but serena's gotta step it up. it's a shame these ladies have to face each other in the first round. why couldn't haynes draw zvonareva and beat her instead?

Wow, I've never seen her play this well before. She has so much fire in her...her eyes are really telling the story.

I remember her beating Maleeva (I think) at the US Open last year. She played okay but she was very very cocky in the post-match interview and it was a turnoff.

I think she found her best surface though.

When I saw her, she play playing like shit. I guess she's gotten better, or Serena is really sucking.

The bandana looks fine. She has a petite, pretty face which makes it easier for her wear the bandana fashionably.

However, she lost many first round matches over the past couple of years, and is giving Serna fits.

I simply don't like the bandana, no matter her facial structure, etc. She's playing extremely well, which is great for her.

Angela subbed in for Jennifer in an exhibition against Maria last December. Angela was so pathetic, I kind of wanted my money back. I'm not watching the match, but I can't believe she could improve her game that much in 5 months. Serena must be playing horrible, which apparently is going around today.

If Serena loses this, she's like Hall of Shame material for at least 6 months!

no...Serena isn't playing that badly at all. she's playing at around 60% of her total potential, i'd say. But Rena needs to win this. I like Haynes but now is not the time for an upset...it'd make the draw suck.

Angela is VERY talented...I guess it's just showing now.

Just put on my TV and there she is. TOO CUTE. I'm a fan at first sight. Sometimes it happens.
And she just won the first set against Serena, who seems to think that she'll win the point just because she screams very loud.

What now? Serena wins 6-1, then loses the third 6-8 ¨¨, enough upsets for today!

I've never seen Haynes play, but it must take some guts or a very bad Serena to win the first set 14-12 in the tie-break.

I simply LOVE this kid! Saw her for the first time when she was like 15 or 16 at La Costa and she was just the cutest, nicest kid. Didn't win her qualifying match, but she was around for a while drinking in the experience. We exchanged "Hello's" the first day when I first saw her and every time I passed her around the grounds all week she would smile and say hi again. Love the fire in her. Hope she keeps up the great play. Plus, she is SOOOOO fun to photograph. I have a ton of pics from IW this year.

Angie is one of the hardest workers out there. What I don't think a lot of people don't know is that she decided to bypass the Challenger events and only play WTA tournaments this year.

Frankly, that takes a lot of guts and she really is not doing that bad, even though she has her last four matches, with a 20-15 record in 05.

Had she played more Challengers this year, her ranking would probably be 30-40 spots higher. But she is chosing to grind it out event after event.

Angela was very impressive at last year's USO when she (just) lost to Francesca. I had been wondering why her ranking didn't match that ability.
There would be a certain logic if Angela beat Serena given who last beat Serena.
Looks as if Serena's game will have to go off a bit again for it to happen - though thats hardly unlikely.

If Angela can find this attitude on a daily basis in her matches, she could break into the top 50. It's good to see that she's not scared of the moment or her opponent. On the other hand, Serena's lack of match play is REALLY apparent. She better turn it around soon if she expects to be a factor in this championship. She just sent it to a third set, so that's a start.
