Welcome to the grounds of Wimbledon! Loads of people will be queueing every day to catch a glimpse of the hotly contested matches in this PYW Grand Slam, with a great amount of allure.

What's at stake? Besides one of the greatest titles, a great load of points can be racked up. And no one is assured of their position on the PYW rankings. Let's take a look at what points can be earned:

* If a qualifier loses in the first round, she gets no first round points as usual.
** Note that these points (R128, Qualifier, Q3, Q2 and Q1) are different from the official points, to make it fairer.


What an exciting tournament Wimbledon has been for PYW. Surely no one would have expected to see both British wild card Elena Baltacha and American Venus Williams [14] in the final of Wimbledon. Top favourites Elena Dementieva, Mary Pierce, Daniela Hantuchova and Maria Kirilenko were all upset in early stages; Kim Clijsters did not make it past the quarter finals.

Just like the Australian Open, which was won by Shinobu Asagoe of Japan, this Grand Slam will give us a surprise finalist. Will Baltacha take home her first ever title in front of her home crowd? Or will Venus win her second tournament, after Antwerp earlier this year?

In fact there is logic in his\her statement.I think (not obligate) that each round must start when the real round start.I try to vote before 2 days but all of my favs was kicked and the game was in 3 or 4 round :rolleyes: My point is that one group of people can vote for 3,4,QF,SF only for 3-4 hours :confused:

I agree with you, but that is not what shauny r was saying! he was saying that it is pathetic that this game is already over and the real wimbledon isn't even started. He had no right to say that in that way, especially when he isn't even participating in the game. He should have asked if he could change the rules to make it last longer, not saying that this game was sad because it was done already. I agree with you with the extending thing, but i don't agree with people who barge into games they have nothing to do with and "diss" them.

The problem is that there is no telling how long a round takes to be completed. In the past, we have had events run the exact same way as they are being run now, and the PYW event hadn't even been completed when the actual tournament had been over for quite some time already.

So because we cannot determine the number of people voting and the number of votes needed beforehand, especially with qualifying events now also being held, I think this is still the best way to run it.

Also, threads are started at different times and many different people vote. We have people from a lot of different time zones in the group of PYW Administrators who can start new threads as well.

That was my main problem at Wimbledon PYW this year. I found that (I live in Toronto - EST) when I left the board at 9-10 EST, and woke up at 6-7 AM EST, either half the matches were completed, or all were done. If maybe in the future, just try to really change the starting time for matches, because you have definitely brought lots of life to the game!
