It was nice, Maria looked amazing in all those photo shoots, however, I think the interview was to focused on her modelling career and not about her tennis life, and they made it look as if Maria has photo shoots all the time, and that is not the case, she only does that 2 or 3 times a year when she has at least 2 weeks off from tennis, but other then that, it was good !!

I saw the video and eveyrthing and they made seem maria so materialistic... they never showed any footage of her doing the service she has done, how she has grown.. they only care abotu Wimbledon... and that last part of the party made me mad... not cause it happened.. but because in the way they showed it it made it seem like she is the next... Anna Kournikova..

yeah Indeed, but that is what the audience wants to see, her losing focus, the media is just waiting for Maria to lose and get all over her, because if you are at the top they always try to get you down

But I' not worried about Maria losing focus because I know better then that ;)

I mean.. AMria is more than endorsements... you cna see her with Kirilenko aorund, or just having fun.. not only buying obssesively and endorsements to death

Maria Sharapova DOES have a Tender and Caring side!

This is why BBC is os unpopular...

yeah as I said before they made it seem like she was doing photo shoots after every tournament, and she only does the endorsement deals when she has at least 4 weeks off, and that is only 3 times a year, after Miami, after Wimbledon and after the Masters

But that is how it goes I guess

The Making Of Maria is, IMO, an excellent documentary... for people who are already Maria Sharapova fans.

It tells the story of her life, from her parents' move from Gomel (following the Chernobyl disaster) to Nyagan where she was born, and to Sochi where she first picked up a tennis-racket at the age of four, and tourists would video her hitting against the wall in her big fur-coat!

It covers her move to Florida at the age of seven, with the tremendous sacrifices the Sharapov family had to make, and footage of little Maria practising at Nick Bollettieri's academy, and her "transition from teen-model to supermodel" in the last three years - noting that her looks have helped to generate huge media- and sponsorship-interest.

However, because of the disproportionate amount of off-court footage, outsiders may form the impression that Maria spends more time on shoe-shopping, photo-shoots, award-ceremonies and commercial interests than on the court! Even though it does say "if you're content to be #10 in the world, you have time for all these distractions, but Maria is aiming to become number one."

Bud Collins warned us that there's always a danger that Maria's tennis may suffer for these off-court distractions. He said she's got the balance right so far - with strong emphasis on "so far".

Naturally, it covers her spectacular triumph at Wimbledon 2004, showing a couple of points from the final, and her famous climb into the stands to embrace her father, and how much it meant to her to "get these happy tears out of him".

Her father Yuri is interviewed a couple of times, saying that 3rd July 2004 was one of those days when God gives you the feeling that Maria's going to win, and that Maria's strength is to be a normal teenage girl regardless of her ascent to superstardom particularly over the last year. There's also some rare footage of her mother Yelena.

Maria looks beautiful throughout the documentary, particularly in the photo-shoot to promote the launch of her new perfume, where she looks absolutely stunning! :hearts:

I thought it was a good doco...a lot of very good footage and the pics of Maria when she was little
Not a lot new to most of us though...but to hear Maria and Yuri talk about their life is always good
They did give the impression Maria did a lot of off court stuff but also said she only does a few weeks a year...

Yuri says Maria "can be as normal as anybody else when shes not playing tennis, thats why I think Maria is so special"
:worship:

yeah....i was happy to finally see a video where Yuri has a say in it..i mean without him maria wouldn't be where she is now....but again..to back up what dan said...alot of this isnt new to us maria fans becuase in nearly every video where they interview her life its the same stuff.....but its nice to see this one...its good...i think they also made it seem like maria cares too much about her business side and that it might take over here....but screw that we all know she doesnt
