GREAT win for Elena:D Nice to see her make up for Amanda Janes losing in a third set tiebreak. Next up for Bally is a slumping Lisa Raymond or Milagros Sequera, so anything could happen there...would love to see her move in close to the top 100 after this month.

If only the grass season was 9 months long, Baltacha would be in the top 30. I still don't understand her schedule after making it to the third round of the AO this year. She might have missed her chance to be a regular on the WTA tour instead of just a regular on the ITF tour.

She has a liver problem. She can't play too much tennis.

I know about that. I'm just wondering why she didn't try to play more hard court or indoor tournis during the winter. Instead she tries to qualify for three clay tournis which is her worse surface by far?

Its the same old same old with the British women. They have a reasonably good grass season, they are hyped up loads and then we dont hear about them for another 12 months. I am surprised no-one has had elena trying to qualify for the bigger tournaments, she isnt ever gonna get anywhere just relying on 3 weeks of the year  .

I actually do want her to do well, she has a solid serve, good groundies and a good head but seems content with having mediocre years, she needs a big kick up the back side and stop playing it safe.

I know you're probably right but we should let the positive vibes flow through us to help lift Baltacha to the top 50! :p

Slumping Raymond? She had an amazing start but was injured and she came back and lost to two good players on hard courts and clay wasnt her thing.

top 50? thats abit optimistic :p ;) . She needs to play a full year before we really know how good she is, but she is gettin old, she needs to kick on now or she is gonna get nowhere

Is this Baltacha's first tournament since Aussie Open? Don't remember her playing any other WTA events.

Anyway a good win for her. She always does well on grass. With a good draw at Wimbledon she should be able to win a couple of matches.

She hasn't won two matches straight all year besides the Australian Open, so I think she's slumping.
