I think she knows quite a bit about tennis, and even more about the phrases she's coined. That's why they pay her the big bucks and we hack away at our keyboards on a msg. board for free. :wavey: :tape:

Considering the fact that Mary Carillo coined the phrase and everything, she is more than qualified to determine this, despite the rejections of some in this thread.

If it should have been Seles, it would have been Seles... but Mary C did say that Mary P was the one that inspired her "Big Babe" phrase.

Oh ok all except the woman who coined the phrase yea that makes sense..
Have you ever seen Monica play prior to 95? She didn't hit every stroke hard and flat, in fact she played quite a few loopers and even moonballs, she wasn't even a big babe, she was a skinny girl with hefty groundies, but she didn't just hit everything hard ala, Mary Pierce , LIndsay Davenport, Serena Williams et al

Clay court "age" is over...who's "age" will it be for the grass, hardcourt and indoor season?

Justine's boobs are at least bigger than Navratilova's...

Surely Martina was the first Big Babe since she was the first to do training off-court.

I would have to agree. BIG babe tennis was all Mary if you take the name literally. I guess after Monica gained some weight she qualified, same with Jen.

Even Navratilova wasnt the first power player.. It was Court who introduced power Tennis. But yes the term Big Babe was first used for Mary Pierce.

Mary Pierce is "babe" material. She's a hot piece of ass! I wouldn't put Steffi, Monica, or Lindsay in her category lookswise. They may be far superior tennis players, but Mary is far superior as far as body, face, and hair.

I don't care what kind of air-brushing and make-up you cake on those other broads, they'd never look this good (though Monica does clean up real nice).

If looks and a killer body won slams, Mary'd be the new Margaret Court!

You obviously didn't know that Margaret Court embraced weight training. And many others pre-Navratilova.

Being from Hollywood, looks are like the most important thing for me. So, players like Anna K, Mary, Sharapova, Dokic, they're the ones I really root for because they're the only ones helf-decent looking off the court by Hollywood standards. If it's two homely or mediocre looking broads, then I base my decision on talent and shot-making ability. But otherwise, I value most a killer face, a killer body, and killer hair.

Old pics? A classic never dies! She was still every man's fantasy on Saturday. She had that pretty pink dress with the black sports bra, she had it goin' on. I was disappointed the band-aid didn't match the dress, though. I chalk that up to slam final nerves.

Poor Mary, you guys are mean!

monica clobbered the ball she she also played with a hell of a lot of angle of her groundies whereas Mary used to just smack it straight down the court and win with power. she has so much more variety these days though.

It may already have ben said:

Monica Seles changed tennis forever. Double handed leftie who used power from the baseline who could thread passing shots as if through a sewing needle. While also enjoying a flamboyant and glamorous life, and rabidly popular too - just look at the endorsements from the early years. It had never been seen before. No female player had ever been so commercially viable. 8 Grand Slam titles, almost in a row. Mary Pierce can't hold a match never mind a candle to that. It doesn't matter who you prefer between the two, Pierce was not the 1st Moncia was.

And just because Mary 'opens her gob and spews forth without thinking' Carillo says it, don't make it true!

Monica may have won 8 slams and received better endorsements than Mary, but Mary has made me question my sexuality on more than a few occasions, which, to me, is way harder to do.

Mary wasn't wearing her rosary beads on Saturday. Memo to Mary: Big Mistake! If Justine has her mother helping, what wrong with Mary seeking a higher power herself?

Hon, big tits are not my thing, not by a long-shot. There's something about that face and smokin' bod though, plus she sort of nuts, which in my book is attractive. There's something about Mary! :D
